BONNER, Wesley Bonner -
March 29, 1949 ~ August 11, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wesley Harold Bonner (age 75) at the Oak Ridges Hospice, after a lengthy battle with cancer, on August 11, 2024.
Devoted husband of the late Linda Bonner (nee Wilkinson). Loving father to Jason (Allison) and the late Brent Bonner (Jennifer).
Beloved son of Reta Bonner (nee Ewart) and the late Ralph Bonner. Predeceased by his sister Karen Whiting (George). Brother-in-law to Donna and Rock Graham.
Wes was a York Regional Police Officer with over 40 years of service. He retired in 2009 as a Superintendent and took an immense amount of pride in his job. He will be missed by his former colleagues, many of whom called him a cherished friend.
A long-time resident of Uxbridge, Wes and Linda raised their two sons there. He was active in his community playing sports, coaching, and sitting on various committees.
When Wes became a grandfather, his pride and joy were his grandchildren. Wes spent countless hours at both the baseball diamonds and in hockey arenas cheering them on, knowing no bounds as to where or when he would watch them play.
Even throughout the decline in his health, Wes remained determined to not miss out on spending time with family. His dedication to them and his community will truly be missed.
Wes’ last months were spent at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry where he received exceptional care by the PSW’s, nurses and doctors. The family is very grateful for the compassion and care they provided to him during this time.
Visitation will be held at Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge on Thursday, August 15 from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Low and Low Funeral Home on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11:00am with visitation at 10:00am. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry or to the Bonner Boys Organization would be appreciated by the family.
BAKER, Yvonne Josephine (Ruthie) Baker - was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She left this world on August 7, 2024 at the age of 85 in Oshawa, ON.
She was born to Gertrude and Fred Baker on September 28, 1938 in Exeter, England and immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1959.
She chased her singing and piano playing aspirations with the Salvation Army.
Anyone who knew Yvonne, knows she had the voice of an angel, even producing a gospel album called “Everlasting Life”.
Yvonne is survived by her three children: Nadeen (Greg) Carriere, Nashelle (Michael) Barsky, and Timothy (Shelly) Berezowski.
Along with her six grandchildren: Michael, Raquel, Madison, Josiphine, Courtney and Caleb. And six great grandchildren: Charlotte, Lily, James, Michael, Aaron and Florence.
Yvonne loved spending time with her grandchildren, singing, reading her bible, knitting, and being with her numerous pets over the years. She was a skilled piano player who would always gravitated towards the nearest piano to display her talents.
Yvonne loved Jesus, and it gives us peace to know she is reunited with her two brothers, bossing them around no doubt.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 4:30pm on Thursday, August 15 at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME. 5295 Thickson Rd N, Whitby, ON.

BEATTY, Sheila "Kelly" -
August 12, 1937 - August 4, 2024
With profound sadness, we announced the passing of Sheila “Kelly” Beatty, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who left us peacefully on August 4, 2024, at the age of 86, eight days shy of 87th birthday.
Kelly passed away peacefully in her sleep at AgeCare Samac in Oshawa.
Kelly was the beloved wife of David (Beatty) for 53 years before his passing in 2013.
She was also the loving mother of Greg (Rungarun), of Bangkok, Heather (Gord) of Grafton, and Dereck “Chips”, who predeceased us in 1996. Kelly will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Hollie (Varouj), Courtney (Eric), and Natchariya (“Mai”).
She was predeceased by her husband David, her son, Chips, and her brother, Michael Schofield (Nancy). Kelly was born on August 12, 1937, in Saint John, New Brunswick. After moving to Toronto, Ontario and meeting her husband David, she lived in Pembroke, Thunder Bay and Sarnia.
In 1972, the family moved to Oshawa where she spent the most fulfilling years of her life. The home on Ascot Court became a beacon for neighbourhood kids. Kelly operated a daycare there, affectionately known as “Pooh Corner”. It served as a daytime home to more than 60+ kids.
Kelly loved good conversation and weekend jaunts to Stewart Island in Muskoka, the summer home of her Stewart relatives.
Kelly’s sense of humour and spirit remained strong to the end. Soon after entering retirement living at Atria, The Court at Brooklin, she became a “Connection Ambassador” sporting Elton-John style rimmed glasses and outfits nearly as colorful. She was voted the “most popular person” on her wing. She proudly displayed that certificate on the wall, along with family photos. A Private Service will be held at a later date.
The family asks that donations be made to the Oshawa Cancer Clinic in Sheila “Kelly” Beatty’s memory. Kelly’s legacy of love, kindness and strength will forever live in our hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

He began his law practice and started a family, and soon moved to Bowmanville where the family became involved with many community and church groups. Doug was proud of his children and enjoyed being involved in their lives as they grew up and had their own families. He especially loved when he could be part of their musical endeavours.
