Peter Oliphant Dallas

Peter Oliphant Dallas

Listed in

1947 - May 17,2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Oliphant Dallas.

Born in Toronto on February 14, 1947 to George and Jessie Dallas (deceased), Peter was a force to be reckoned with, alongside his brother Paul Dallas.

Peter, or “Otis” as he was known, completed his Kinesiology degree from the University of Waterloo where he played football and recently was able to celebrate his 50th reunion with his friends.

Peter went on to complete his Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto.

Ever since his teenage years, Peter loved working with children. He took groups of kids canoe tripping in Algonquin Park with the Boy Scouts and worked at the Boys and Girls Club teaching swimming.

He taught for 25 years with the Scarborough Board and Toronto Board of Education as a Special Education teacher. His patience and genuine self helped reach even the most troubled youth, always going above and beyond for every student.

It was while working at the West Scarborough Boys Club that he met the love of his life, Mary. He went home that day in 1972 and told his roommate he met the woman he was going to marry.

They married on June 15, 1974 and truly exemplified a lifetime of love. Together they built a wonderful life, spending time at the cottage on Devil’s Lake outside of Minden, ON, traveling, and when Peter could get away he could be found golfing at Spring Lakes GCC.

Peter’s daughters, Catherine Oleksiuk and Jennifer van Gent, along with their husbands David and John will dearly miss their father. Peter’s legacy will live on in his grandchildren; Justin (wife Melissa), Matthew (deceased), Samantha (fiance Nicholas), Joshua and Ainsley.

He was so very proud of each and every one of them and will always be with them.

Visitation will be held at McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME (28 Old Kingston Rd, Ajax, ON, L1T 2Z7) on Wednesday May 22nd from 4-8pm and a Memorial Service will be on Thursday May 23 at 11am in the chapel.

Peter Howard Darke

Peter Howard Darke

July 21, 1935 - May 14, 2024

Peter passed away peacefully, in Whitby.

He will by sadly missed by his loving wife, Patricia; daughters, Leah (Kerry) and Tracey (Gabriel); grandchildren, Yasmeen and Richie; many friends in Whitby, Ontario, and extended family in Britain.

Now at peace with his infant sons, Glenn and Thomas.

Special thanks to Rodger and Tony for their enduring friendship, and neighbour, Adam, for all his help.

A proud Welshman born in Undy, South Wales, Peter spent his younger years in the British Merchant Navy. He loved sharing stories about his trips around the world.

He immigrated to Canada more than fifty years ago without "two nickels to rub together." He was a Sears Canada sales manager for many years, and worked hard to make a comfortable life for his family.

In retirement, he enjoyed road trips with Pat, having a good meal, strolling around the neighbourhood, listening to Big Band music, weekly trips to the library to keep up his encyclopedic knowledge, and spending time with his family.

He mentored and helped many people to improve their lives, sharing the wisdom he learned in the school of hard knocks.

Despite many challenges he endured throughout his life, he always maintained his sense of humour. He loved a good joke (the saltier, the better) and his laughter will be his legacy.

In lieu of flowers or donations, share a joke and make someone laugh in his memory.

In keeping with Peter's wishes, there will be no funeral.

Cremation has taken place at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME in Whitby.

Condolences may be shared to: peterdmemories@gmail.com. Rest in peace, Boyo.

Predeceased in death by her beloved husband of almost 58 years, Leonard, dear mother of Jeff (Heather), Brad, Lori, and Leonard Jr.

Loving grandmother to Tyler, Joshua, Ethan Wyatt (EW), Nicky, Joshua, Justin, and Leonard Joseph (LJ). She is remembered and missed by her friends/family (and their fur babies), nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Visitations will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 6-8 pm at the Mangan Funeral Home, Beaverton ON, and on Saturday May 18, 2024 at Fair Havens Community Church, 2355 Highway 48, Beaverton, ON from 10-11am with Celebration of Life at 11-12 pm and a light lunch and refreshments to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Community Care Hospice Services of Kawartha Lakes or the Canadian Lung Association.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the palliative team and her countless health care providers.

Pauline had a wonderful sense of humor and a love for her birds, dogs, and most of all, her beloved cat, Teah. Despite her tiny stature, she was a force to be reckoned with and a beautiful woman inside and out.

She touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Heaven most certainly has gained an angel.
