Anna Maria Pagliaroli

Anna Maria Pagliaroli

Listed in

11-Apr-1952 - 27-Apr-2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Anna Maria Pagliaroli on April 27, 2024.

Loving wife of 55 years to Silvio. Proud mother to Dino (Katarzyna) and Roberto.

Anna will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all her family and friends.

Anna loved her family fiercely and there is nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She was present, supportive and always available to offer a logical solution to a complicated situation. Her wisdom and deep care was felt by those closest to her every day.

She started each morning with a cup (or depending on the day, a pot) of coffee. Energetic, hard working and up with the roosters to start the day. She loved her coffee.

She was honest… oh, was she ever honest. Her memory was like a vault - she remembered everything and could recall events from years past in great detail. We will miss her stories. Anna was witty, clever, feisty and bold. She didn’t hold back and always “told you straight”. The matriarch of the family and a small but mighty force to be reckoned with.

She loved animals, especially her dogs (Buddy and Charlie). It was not unusual for her to be feeding the birds or the squirrels or to walk in on Anna cutting up home made pasta and meatballs into the dog’s bowl at dinner time because “they need to eat too”.

For Anna, food equaled love and as an incredible cook, she often hosted family dinners that rivalled 5 star, 10 course feasts. We joked that she is cooking for the entire neighbourhood.

With a few dozen eggs and ten pounds of flour, she regularly made home made pasta, gnocchi, lasagna, cream puffs, pastry bows, biscotti, pizza, ciambelle and many other delights. Her tomato sauce cannot be replicated (and many have tried). There were no recipe books, she did everything by feel with experience and with love.

Anna was a talented seamstress who was a magician with fabric, a needle and thread. Throughout her career, her unique creations of beautiful drapery, pillows, bench covers, bedding and custom items adorned the homes and businesses of many satisfied customers. She loved what she did for a living and made it look effortless.

Gone too soon and forever in our hearts.

All are welcome to gather in memory of Anna at the McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME 20 Church St. N., Ajax, on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.

As a beloved mother, she will be missed terribly by her children, Stuart (Jacquie), Barbara (Wayne), and Colleen; and by her ever-loving grandchildren, Ethan, Liam, Keegan, Mei Lan, Callum, and Ming Li.

Missed dearly by her brothers, John (Joyce) and Nigel; as well as by her nieces and nephews.

Always close to their hearts, Ireland remains a second home to their three children.

Retirement brought them to Castleton, and then Anne to Newcastle after Clem's passing in 2011.

Died peacefully at her home in Pickering, with family present, on April 6, 2024.

Born February 28, 1963, she is survived by her husband, Mark, daughter Kristen, sons Andrew and Brandon, parents Rocco and Vilma Firmani, brother Lucio Firmani, daughters-in-law Bita and Samantha and grandson, Matteo.

Throughout her 61 years she made the lives of everyone she touched warmer and brighter through her kindness of spirit, selfless generosity and endless capacity for compassion and love.

Never one to crave the spotlight, preferring instead to help those she loved to achieve their goals, she nevertheless possessed a quiet courage and the inner strength to bravely meet and overcome many challenges throughout her life, earning a reputation for honesty, reliability, detail and dependability that guided her in all her actions both personal and career-oriented.

Born in Germany, Annette grew up in Windsor, before moving to Toronto, graduating from the University of Toronto and starting a young family.

A lover of music and the performing arts, she met her husband, Mark, through their mutual passion for performing in community theatre, one that continued both on stage and in annual trips to the Stratford Theatre Festival. When Annette passed, ABBA and the musical “Mamma Mia” lost one of their most special fans.

Enjoying a 23-year career with Scotiabank, she rose from an entry level position to Senior Fraud Analyst, along the way earning the well-deserved reputation among her colleagues as the person you went to when you wanted something done right.

Annette possessed a gift for enjoying the simpler things in life and experiencing joy from even the smallest gestures of kindness and goodwill. Family and friends were at the core of who she was, with her greatest source of pride and joy being watching her children grow into the young adults they have become and being able to share that journey with them.

Annette will be laid to rest, after a small private family funeral at MOUNT LAWN CEMETERY , in Whitby. A Celebration of Annette’s Life will be held at a later date, please check back for details.
