80, passed away on November 24, 2023 in Whitby, Ontario.
Chris’ story began in Birmingham, England.
He was born on September 3rd, 1943 to loving parents Harry and Gladys and grew up together with his two siblings, Robert and Patricia.
It was in Africa that Chris met his future wife Lyn (Clark), they were married in January, 1969 and spent their first years as a married couple exploring the African countryside.
In 1971, Chris and Lyn welcomed their first child, Steven. In 1974 the family of three embarked on another new adventure emigrating to Canada and, not long after settling just west of Toronto, they welcomed their second child, Michael.
The family soon relocated to Whitby, ON where they purchased their first home.
An incredibly proud Dad, Chris supported and encouraged his boys completely. He was an equally proud and devoted Grandad to his three grandchildren Hannah, Liam and Owen and the best father-in-law to Leanne and Angela.
Recently, Chris celebrated his 80th birthday and as he looked around the room he remarked at how lucky he felt, how blessed, to be surrounded by family and friends.
He couldn’t believe that everyone had come out to celebrate him. A gentleman and a gem, we will miss you Chris, always.
There are no words to express how grateful we are to our friends and neighbours who have been so supportive, and to the Durham Region First Responders for doing everything they could, your kindness will not be forgotten.

JUNE 19, 1964 – NOVEMBER 14, 2023
Cindy Mary Ann Devlin passed peacefully in her home on November 14th, 2023.
As she took her final breaths, she was lovingly surrounded by her two daughters and her devoted husband of 26 years.
Cindy was born on June 19, 1964, at Oshawa General Hospital to parents, Joan Hubbard and the late Jim Hasey as well as her loving dad, John Hubbard.
Cindy was the beloved wife of Robert Devlin and cherished mother of two daughters, Hailey and Sabrina.
Recently, Cindy became a new grandmother when the family welcomed Hailey and Aaron's first child, Harlow Batchellor.
After her marriage to Robert on August 30, 1997, Cindy became the cherished daughter-in-law to the now deceased, Henry and Frances Devlin.
Cindy was a dear sister to Kelly Hasey (Ivan) and Mike Hasey (Susan) and a cherished sister-in-law to Frances Schissler (Jeff), Karen Lee (James), Henry Devlin, Katherine Devlin and Dolores Devlin. Cindy loved children and she will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as her neighbourhood friends.
Cindy graduated from Central Collegiate in Oshawa and went on to become a business analyst for Canada Life in Toronto where she enjoyed a 20-year long career.
She had the opportunity to retire early and stay home with her daughters when they were only 3 and 5. Cindy was a very involved and active parent in her children's upbringing.
In the decade following a silent brain stroke, Cindy began to struggle with dementia. During this time, her husband, daughters, and her sister-in-law, Karen, devoted themselves to caring for Cindy at home where she was always most comfortable.
In the summer of 2023, Cindy was diagnosed with breast cancer; a disease her mother had earlier fought and overcame.
During this, her last fight, Cindy demonstrated that she was still stronger than imagined. Cindy was a true warrior, and she leaves behind a legacy of strength and grace through adversity that her family will cherish forever.
Robert, Hailey and Sabrina wish to warmly thank their community of friends and family and the many incredible nurses, doctors and personal care workers who helped to support the family on this difficult journey.
Cindy was at home and at peace in her final hours and for that they are deeply grateful.
