Lovingly surrounded by his children Brenda (Denis Leroux), Margaret (Urs Kressibucher), James (Jolene), and Christine (Jason van Tol).

Loved grandfather of Mathieu, Noah, Sean (Samantha), Erik (Stacey), Ursula, Natasha, Isaac, Hannah, Luke, Nathan, and great grandfather of Emmett. Dear brother of Judi (Robert Butterworth).

Predeceased by his sisters Mary (Earl Foster), Bonnie (Jack Graham) He will be missed by his nieces and nephews.

Jim was employed for over four decades at General Motors while also farming.

Ruth and Jim were married for over sixty-four years enjoying dancing and socializing with many friends and family.

In retirement he became a master wood carver for thirty years. Thanks to the wonderful care and support from caregivers Grace, Kayla, and additional PSW support plus family, Jim was able to remain at home as he wished.

The family of James Munro will receive friends at the Thorne funeral home, in Sunderland, on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Service to Celebrate his life will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. Interment McNeil Cemetery.

Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday February 28th, 2024 at the age of 91 years.

Dearly beloved husband of Barbara (nee Novak) of 65 years of marriage.

Loving father of Ed (Cheryl) and Lynn Shelly. Cherished Ati of Maya (Steve), Dane, Lexy, Sabrina and Hailey.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Barbara Staresinic, and by his siblings Marica (late Janko) and Miko.

Will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends in Canada, USA and Slovenia.

Joseph will always be remembered as having the natural talent to fix anything that was needed around the home and around automobiles. He was very musically inclined and played the accordion into his late years.

In 1953 a recording of Joseph playing "The Kolo" on his accordion is in the Slovenian National Archive in Ljubljana. Finally and most importantly he was very much loved by his family, especially his grandkids.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME 847 King St., W., (905-721-1234) on Wednesday March 6th, 2024 from 3pm to 7pm. Prayers will be held at (5:00 p.m.).

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday March 7th, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the People Catholic Church (570 Marion Ave., Oshawa).

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Joan McWilliam (85).

Joan passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18th, 2024 at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto.

She will be remembered as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved flowers and her family more than anything else.

Joan is survived by her children, Alan and Annie, her eight grandchildren, and her two great-grandchildren.

Passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on February 28th, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of Cidalia Barros.

Loving father of Paul (Danielle) Avila and Stephanie (Richard) Lucero.

Cherished grandfather of Maranda and Mateo Avila and Maven, Caiden and Emry Lucero. He is predeceased by his parents, João and Maria Barros.

John always faced life with a positive attitude and smile on his face, even through every hardship he faced during his grueling battle with ALS.

Always the life of the party, he loved nothing more than to make those around him laugh with his quick wit and humour. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back and offer a helping hand without hesitation.

But above all else, what brought him the greatest joy in life was being a vovô – he loved his grandchildren fiercely and boasted about them often. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Friends and relatives may visit at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21 Garrard Road, on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

Passed away peacefully at the Ross Memorial Hospital Lindsay, on February 28, 2024.

June was predeceased by her husband Neil Templeton.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter Cathie (Bruce) Richardson, and their children Kevin, Andrea, and Matthew, and by her son Colin (Sharon) Templeton and their daughter Dayna. June will be remembered by her extended family and friends.

Family was always important to June and she was very proud of her children and grandchildren.

She worked as a secretary for the Ministry of Lands and Forests for ten years before marrying and becoming a full-time homemaker and world-class Wife and Mother.

She loved being out in God’s creation and travelled and camped coast-to-coast in Canada with her husband, Neil. She passed along her love of nature and birding to her children and grandchildren.

June discovered her creative side after her husband passed away in 1998 and learned to paint with watercolour and sketch with pencil and charcoal.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Old Stone Church Cemetery, Beaverton.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. If so desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or World Vision would be appreciated by the family.

In the early hours of February 24, 2024 Kenneth John Phillips, aged 88, passed peacefully from life with family at his side.

Kenneth was born on March 2, 1935 immigrating from Buxton, England to Canada at the tender age of 24.

Ken took the monumental step to start a new life in Toronto where fate happily intervened, introducing him to Anneliese who took the same incredibly brave journey from Germany. Together they enjoyed 64 years of marriage.

Ken worked in the transportation industry for many years and enjoyed working for Avis as a driver when he retired. He loved driving new unaffordable cars, driving fast, and having coffee with the guys.

He was a 32-degree Mason and Shriner, playing drums in the Oriental band in Oshawa.

Ken always beat to the sound of his own drum. He enjoyed giving back to the community through the Shriner’s Children’s Charity and loved seeing smiles from the kids during the parades and circuses.

Always remembered by wife Anneliese (Hoffschulte) Phillips, son Tom (Tracey Dec 23, 2022) daughter Caroline, and granddaughters Michaela, Cassandra, Jessica.

He is also remembered by many family members in England, friends in Cuba and all those who were privileged to know him over the years.

We would like to thank the staff at the Bowmanville Hospital for their compassion and care.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends at a later date.

Survived by his wife, Gloria (McIntyre).

Born on the family farm in Hastings, Ontario, Joseph’s life was marked by service, dedication, and love.

He was a devoted father to Kathy (Lee), Chris (Karen), Patti, Nancy, and Joanne (Kennedy).

His grandchildren Aaron (Carin), Carissa, Courtney (Aron), Matthew (Stephanie), Kristy, Olivia (Walker), Jack, Gregory (Georgia), Mia, and Phillip and great-grandchildren Mason, Liam, Emerson, Lincoln, Addalyn, and Callum

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Mary (Monaghan), and survived by his sisters Rita Collin and Jean (Ross) Cotton.

He was also predeceased by his siblings Angus, James, Eleanor, twin brother Jack, Agnes, Leonard, and Doreen. His memory lives on in the hearts of many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

At the age of 18, Joseph enlisted in the Army and served overseas.

His experiences shaped his character, instilling in him a sense of duty and resilience. In the early 1950s, Joseph settled in Oshawa, where he met Gloria—the love of his life.

Together, they built a family home that would witness seven decades of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Joseph’s faith was unwavering.

He dedicated countless years to St. Joseph the Worker Parish, volunteering with organizations like St. Vincent de Paul Society and March of Dimes.

He was also in the Cameron Highlanders. A quiet and gentle man, Joseph found solace in watching his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was old enough to witness them win the Stanley Cup.

Whether tending to the yard or napping under a tree, he lived a life of simple contentment. Joseph Smith’s legacy is one of love, service, and devotion.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.

Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME 124 King Street East, Oshawa, for visitation on Wednesday February 28th from 4pm until 7pm, with a rosary service at 4pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church (Oshawa) on Thursday February 29th at 10:30am.
