It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Bob Taylor.

He passed away at home, doing what he loved, working on his Grand National.

Bob is predeceased by his parents Milton and Marion Taylor, brothers Ted, Stephen and David, and his sister Marion Taylor. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years Gerry Taylor, son Chris Taylor, daughter in law Kirby Taylor, brothers Mick (Pam) Taylor and Frank (Cheryl) Taylor, sisters Tina (Ward) Taylor, Joyce Taylor, brothers-inlaw Jim (Ruth) and Avi (Marlene), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special life-long friends.

Bob had a wide circle of friends, many of whom he had known since he was a teenager.

Bob was born in Toronto on May 29, 1945, and spent the last 48 years in the same house in Scarborough.

After doing odd jobs for the Township of Oshawa as a teenager, he landed a job working at General Motors at the age of 16. He continued to work for GM in Oshawa for his entire career, which included over 20 years on the line and 20 years in management, and finally retiring after and incredible 43 years of service.

His love of the automotive industry was obvious to everyone he knew, with his “second son”, his 1987 Buick Grand National, always tucked nicely in his garage. Bob loved working on his car and after retirement spent most of his free time maintaining and working on his beloved GN.

He loved going to any and all car shows in the area and met so many wonderful friends who shared his same passion for automobiles. He was so happy once he finally built the “dream garage” for his GN, and took such pride making it into his perfect “man cave”.

He was a kind and caring man, and would be there for anyone who needed a hand. From driving friends and family to the airport or medical appointments, to helping with household maintenance or renovations. Bob could, and would, do it all. “Big Bobby” was a legend, and the stories and memories will live on forever.

Bob will be missed very much by all who knew him.
