It is with great sadness that the family of Harold “JC” Tremblay announce his passing on June 24th, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Harold “JC” was born November 26th, 1947 in Scarborough, ON, where he joined the Metro Toronto Police Cadets at the age of 18 and went onto a 34 year career where he proudly served many years at 41 Division, in Scarborough with The Toronto Police Services.

Retiring November 2001, becoming a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

Harold “JC” met the love of his life Barbara nee: Tilling in 1970 and were married October 14, 1972, about to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

Barbara and Harold “JC” moved to Oshawa in 1974 and started their family having 2 sons James and Stephen Tremblay.

Harold was a very proud and involved Dad with OCHL hockey, Scouts Canada, Hot Dog Day, Parent Council, and Willowdale Park Soccer Association.

James married Lori and Stephen married Megan, which gave him his 2 daughters who were very special in his heart.

Harold “JC” was such a proud poppa of his cherished grandchildren; Riley, Jacob, Jack, Ella and his close companion and best buddy, Samurai.

He was not just their Poppa, he was their hero. He could always be counted on, driving them to work, and spoiling them with whatever they needed.

Poppa never missed a hockey game, practice, sporting event, traveling to tournaments and school activities for all his grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Celeste Tremblay, his brother’s Jeff and Paul Tremblay.

Survived by his sisters Carla (Ken) Veneebles, Carrie (Dave) O’Donnell and his brother Peter Tremblay. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and very close friends.

Harold “JC” loved to travel with Barbie (as he fondly called her) particularly to Florida (The Destin Group) Walt Disney World, multiple cruises and many other destinations.

He was there for anyone who needed him and never missed a Repatriation Ceremony along the “Highway of Heroes” to honor our soldiers coming home.

Harold “JC” loved to volunteer particularly at Grandview Children’s Centre (Annual Golf Tournament and Butterfly Release).

He loved the game of hockey coaching and played with the Whitby Men’s Hockey League as a goalie until 2020 and he kept his Toronto Maple Leaf “Leaf Tree” to honour his favourite team.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL , 1587 Hwy #2 Courtice, Ontario. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28th from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Funeral Services held in the Chapel on Wednesday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1hr prior to service.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Holly (Boland) Richardson.

Loving mother to Jay, Shawn, and Ashley, and proudest grandmother to Oein, Maya, and Nathan.

Holly was a long-time newspaper distributor for Uxbridge and surrounding areas.

Many might remember her cruising the backroads flipping papers along the way.

A memorial service will take place at the Uxbridge Free Methodist Church, 81 Reach Street on Saturday July 16th at 11:30am. Light lunch and refreshments to follow.

It truly has been a long journey, and you will remain forever in our hearts.

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harvey Hicks in his 83rd year at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, June 15, 2022.

Harvey will be greatly missed by his lifelong partner of 59 years, Barbara and his 3 children, Jane (Stephen), Carolyn Stanbrook (Mike), David (Lisa), and grandchildren Lauren, Julia, Owen and Matthew.

Harvey was pre-deceased by his sister June Jupp.

As a graduate of Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute in Toronto, Harvey’s studies took him to General Motors Institute (GMI) in Flint Michigan which began a career in the Automotive Industry that saw him travel often between Toronto and Michigan until his retirement in 2001.

The last 20 years presented many health hurdles, but no matter what news he received, Harvey tackled it head on with Barb.

Sincere gratitude to Lyndhurst Rehabilitation who helped Harvey get back on his feet again, to Princess Margaret Hospital – Myeloma Clinic who managed his multiple myeloma into remission and to Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre who worked their magic with his later bouts of cancer.

Also, to Bowmanville Lakeridge Hospital who ensured Harvey was comfortable in his last days.

Harvey will be fondly remembered for his quick-witted quiet side, his love of reading, sports, scotch and making wine.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Myeloma Canada, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Lyndhurst Centre or Lakeridge Bowmanville Hospital Foundation.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 5th from 12 to 2 pm at Trinity United Church followed by a celebration of life at 2 pm. Reception to follow.

After a brief illness, Helen passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Monday June 13th, 2022 at the age of 90 years.

Beloved wife of the late James Peat.

Henry was an Ironworker for Local 721.

After retirement, he enjoyed golfing, curling, spending time at the family cottage on Mazinaw Lake and time at his family home in Colliers, NL.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church. Private interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

Helen was born August 9, 1924, in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands to Johannes Vanderzwet and Adrianna Van Klink.

Beloved wife of the late John Vandermeer (d. 1998) for 50 wonderful years.

Proud and loving mother to Marinus (d. 2018) (Cathy), Mary Newman (Earl), John (Alice-Faye), Gary (d. 2004) (Sue), Carl (Joy d. 2016), Greg (Tammy), Jane Mazzotta and Rick (Karen).

Wonderful Oma to 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by grandson Mark (2008).

Loving sister of Gerard (deceased), Nel Jawny (Harold, deceased), John and his wife Anne (both deceased), Wilma Kryger (deceased) and her husband John, Cathy and her husband Carl Slierings (both deceased), Nancy Mazzochi (Philip, deceased), Sophia Hroncich (deceased) and her husband John and Frank and his wife Lynda.

Loved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Immigrated to Canada in January 1954, with her husband John and four children after WWII.

They were then blessed with four more children in Canada. Mom was a volunteer for St. John’s Ambulance and was custodian for the Oshawa Catholic School Board.

She enjoyed many hobbies, knitting, quilting, stained glass cutting and creating, puzzling, just to name a few.

She loved visiting the casino with her sister Nel, and also enjoyed “Ladies Night” with her sisters as well as vacations in Florida.

She loved spending time with family and friends.

Please join us for visitation on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King St. E., Oshawa) with Prayers during visitation.

Urn interment to take place on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery (355 Taunton Rd. E., Whitby).

Reception to follow, location will be posted at the funeral home. All are welcome.
