Our precious, Isabella Sofia Sultan-Khan, age 11, passed away on Saturday July 15th, 2017 at 11:55 a.m. at Emily’s House in Toronto.She died due to complications of her underlying brain disorder (lissencephaly).Isabella was born on March 4, 2006 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa to parents Amrall and Gillian (Brunton).Isabella is survived by her parents, Amrall & Gillian; her older brother, Luke; her younger sister, Alexis; her paternal grandparents, Shafeek and Pamela; her maternal grandparents, Ian and Mimi; her aunts, Leah, Sonya, Shafika and Jaime; her uncles, Omar, Ian and Stefan; and her cousins, Mya, Lucas and Aarav.Isabella, or as we all called her “Bella,” loved music, dancing and cuddles. She was a funny, energetic, happy little girl who brought joy to everyone around her. Bella faced many challenges due to her health, yet she bravely faced them all with strength and courage.Bella’s family would like to thank her support group, which included her phenomenal nurse Kaitlyn and loving live-in nanny Angie. In addition, we are immensely grateful for the exceptional care Bella received from her family doctor Dr. Ian Kitai (and Tanya his receptionist), her neurologist Dr. Pamela Cooper (and her nurse Catherine), and from Sick Kids’ Hospital and Emily’s House, particularly Cathy Daniels, Dr. Reshma Amin, Dr. Julia Orkin, Dr. Adam Rapoport, Dr. Katherine Nelson, Dr. Kevin Weingarten, Rebecca Williams and Francis Macapagal.In lieu of flowers, Bella’s family encourages donations to Sick Kids’ Hospital or Emily’s House, where she stayed for the last week of her life.
