John was a high school science teacher at O’Neill CVI for over 30 years.

Loved son of the late Ian and Ida Ferguson. Dear brother of Leslie Ferguson (Geoffrey Turner), Helen Ferguson and predeceased by his sister Ann Ferguson.

Dear brother-in-law of Fred Dyck. Loved uncle of Morganna, AT, Dylan, Elise, Anton and Marian. Survived by Shirley Douglas and multiple cousins and their families. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

FAZIO,  Maria Nicola Fazio (née Tarulli)  -  affectionately known as Marietta, passed away on August 11th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Ajax Pickering Hospital, at the age of 101.

Born on April 14th, 1923, in Bitetto, Bari, Italy, Maria married the love of her life, Vito Fazio, on June 8th 1945 and later emigrated by sea to Canada on the ship Vulcania on March 27th 1960.

She landed in Halifax with her two daughters, Angela and Palma where they joined Maria's husband, Vito, who emigrated in 1959.

Devout to the patron Saint Beato Giacomo, Maria's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions, traditions and interactions with those around her. She found joy in sewing, gardening, and singing, activities that reflected her loving, funny, and sweet nature. Maria was deeply family-oriented, full of life and always had a story to tell or a proverb to live by, traits that made her the beloved matriarch of her family. She was deeply loved by all who knew her.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Vito Fazio; daughter, Angela Punzo; son-in-law, Frank Punzo; and siblings Francesco Tarulli, Francesco Tarulli II, Caterina Tarulli, Vincenza Barosi, and Eugenia Scarpetta.

She is survived by her daughter, Palma, and son-in-law, Nicola Cellamare; sisters Antonietta Palmieri and Angela Chieco; grandchildren Emanuel (Amy), Mirella, Joseph (Maria), Anna Maria (Dave), and Vito (Meghan); and great-grandchildren Angelica, Frankie, Alessia, Nicholas, Marisa, Noah, Rachel, and Mason.

Her life's impact, marked by resilience, kindness, and a deep commitment to her family and faith, will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.

He will be missed by his mother and father in-law Douglas and Pauline Fenton, sister in-law Connie Fenton and his nieces and nephews.

Rob spent his career with the Township of Brock creating lasting friendships with many of those he worked with. A man of many hobbies which included RC airplanes, lego, model trains, woodworking and a dedicated member of the Cannington historical society, he created many lasting memories and friendships with those he met along the way. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

A special thank you to Oak Ridges Hospice for their unbelievable compassion and support during such a difficult time.

A graveside service will be held at the Sunderland Cemetery on Thursday, August 15th at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome. A celebration of life will follow at the Sunderland Legion from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

FRASER, Douglas Duncan Fraser  -   aged 85, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a warm and loving man who, even in his final days, never lost his sense of humour. He left a lasting and positive impression on everyone who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Doug is survived by his loving wife Patricia Fraser (nee Verral) of almost 60 years, his children Heather Kaine (Andy Kenins) and Cameron Fraser (Tricha Fraser) and his brother George Fraser (Betty Fraser). He was the proud grandfather of Emily and Jack Kaine and Myles and Tiffany Fraser who brought him immense joy.

A dog lover for most of his life, Julia and Ella will miss their human papa.

Doug was an avid golfer and up until the last couple of years frequented the courses of Haliburton County with his hat, sunscreen and bug spray. Vacations were spent playing golf in South Carolina and Florida. For years he organized the Fletcher Valley Golf Tournament, a most anticipated community event. He always enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie he found on the greens.

A Chartered Accountant by profession, Doug’s meticulous nature and commitment to excellence made him a respected figure in his community.

For years he was the Treasurer of St. Peter’s Church in Algonquin Highlands where he could be found tallying up the proceeds from various church events including the most popular Thanksgiving dinner and summer pancake breakfasts.

Doug’s life was filled with love and laughter.

A celebration of his life will take place on August 31, 2024 at 11:30am at St. Peter’s Church, 1213 St. Peters Road, Algonquin Highlands.

Hazel is survived by her daughter Jean; her grandchildren Julia (Stefan) and Neil (Crystal); her great grandchildren Caitlyn, Payton, Nathanial and Naomi.

She also leaves behind her siblings Roy Forrest and Myrtle Williams; her niece Donna; many Nieces and Nephews, her SDA family and her many friends. Ms. Forrest was predeceased by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church, 511 Horner Ave, Etobicoke, ON M8W 2B9 at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at 2 pm at the Bond Head Cemetery Queen Victoria St, Newcastle, ON. Following the burial all are invited to a luncheon at Da Taste Jamaican Restaurant 361 King Avenue East 5 & 6, Newcastle, ON L1B 1H4.

Pearl is survived by her three sons, their wives and six grandchildren; brother, Ken; sisters, Olga, Una and Joyce Scarlett.

Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Lillian Scarlett; her husband, Graydon Flash; her brothers, Gladstone and Lloyd Scarlett; her sisters, Ellen Bell Lee and Thelma-Rose Scarlett.

After a lengthy illness, at Lakeshore Lodge, John left us on July 26th, 2024.

He was the older twin son of the late Maurice and Catherine (Hunter) Fitzgerald; and late twin brother, James of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

He leaves his beloved wife, Jacqueline (nee Harris); his son, Andrew; daughter, Julie (Evan) Coakwell; and grandchildren, Liam, Ava, and Owen.

Also mourning his loss are sisters-in-law, Irene Gaudet (late Hector), Bernice Harris, and Elizabeth Johnstone (Bruce). He also leaves several cousins in Thunder Bay and Western Canada.

He was born in Geraldton, Ontario, where he spent his early years and then his teen years in Shefferville, Quebec. After Radio College in Toronto, he spent a few years repairing phone lines along the DEW LINE in Northern Ontario. In 1966, he joined IBM and spent 25 years repairing and maintaining large computer systems in Toronto.

After early retirement, he spent his time investing and making wine.

No service or memorial is planned. Memorial donations to Autism Ontario or the Star Fresh Air Fund would be appreciated.

His spirit is now free to roam the forests of his youth

Mary was born in 1939 in Islington, St Mary’s, Jamaica, to Violet Maud and  Alexander Augustus Forrest.

She was a cherished twin to Mirriam (predeceased in 2012) and was one of 14 siblings.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Elliott (2008) and is survived by his children and grandchildren.

She is also fondly remembered by her long-time partner and friend Leonard Watts.

Mary was a devoted mother to Junior, Valerie (Albert), Pauline, Andrew (Sylvie), and Lorain, and a loving grandmother to Stephen, Elaine, Milton, Kavin (Bonnie), Amelia, Jermaine, Kareem, Deidrea, Amanda (Arslan), Adrian, Jhadiva, Torel, Azsa, Anysa, and Arya.

Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Omar, Niya, Ma’ Liah, Shequille, Sheqwan, Shecqoia, Jaheim, Charity, Leah, Jaxon, and Magnolia. She was also blessed with great-great-grandchildren: Aiden, A’lynn, Addison, Saelah, and Senae.

In 1968, Mary migrated to Canada seeking a better life, paving the way for her four children to follow and establish their own lives there. Known for her generosity and kindness, Mary was deeply involved in her community, working at Consumer Glass and as a domestic helper. She was a natural entrepreneur, owning a restaurant, an antique store, and several home-based businesses throughout her life. Her resilience and dedication to her family led her to juggle multiple jobs
tirelessly.

Mary was deeply devoted to her Christian faith, which sustained her through life's challenges. She found joy in attending church and participating in community activities that reflected her faith and values. Mary's faith guided her compassion for others, and she was known for her unwavering kindness and support.

Mary had a passion for gardening, sewing, and upholstery, showcasing her creativity and nurturing spirit. She cared deeply for those in need and maintained unwavering faith through life's challenges. Her calm demeanour and sharp wit endeared her to all who knew her, and her desire for peace was a guiding force in her life.

Mary's family and friends will deeply miss her presence.

Until we meet again, she will be remembered lovingly as Mom, Mama, Grandma, and Maremare.

We are saddened to share that Jane passed away last Thursday in the hospital, peaceful and surrounded by family.

She is survived by husband, Michael; children, Christine, Kevin, Bridget and Jeremy; siblings, Margaret Ann, Mary Lorraine and late brother, Kevin; aunt, Mary Ann; her grandchildren, Emmalyn, Madison, Matthew and Owen.

Jane achieved her RN certification at St. Joseph's hospital, upon graduating Lawrence Collegiate, then in midlife heroically passed the refresher course, going on to work at Mississauga Hospital, then a doctor's office.

In her private life, she was a dedicated mother and friend, always the first to offer a lift to appts, a meal or an ear.

Jane was an accomplished baker, voracious reader and dog lover. She loved nothing more than a lively cocktail party with friends, an opportunity for laughter and catching up - especially at the family cottage.

A wake will be held August 6, 4-8 p.m. at Glen Oaks Funeral Home (3164 Ninth Line, Oakville) and funeral August 7, 11 a.m. at St. Matthews (1150 Monks Passage, Oakville).
