It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kamini Sooriyamoorthy (Arulampalam), who left us on October 13th, 2024, at the age of 68. Kamini was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Ajax Crematorium & Visitation Centre - Suite A&B, located at 384 Finley Avenue, Ajax, Ontario. Family and friends are welcome to gather and pay their respects.
The funeral service will take place on Monday, October 21st, 2024, at 8:00 AM at the same location, with cremation to follow at 11:00 AM. For those unable to attend in person, a live stream will be available.

Kamini's warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit will be remembered by all. Her legacy of kindness and love will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.

Urmas Sui passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the age of 82 years.

Loved and deeply missed by his wife, Iivi, and by his son Aleks, daughter-in-law Elaine, and granddaughters Stella and Lily. Also remembered by the Bezuhly family and family in Estonia and Sweden.

Urmas loved the outdoors, enjoying decades of hunting and fishing trips, and hiking the Uxbridge trails. His chainsaw held a special place in his heart, and he took pride in overstocking the woodshed with logs for the woodstove. Urmas never lost faith in his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, convinced that this was the year they would take the Cup.

A long-time proud member of the Toronto Estonian Pistol Club and the Estonian fraternity Sakala, Urmas met life-long friends through these communities. Known as a gracious host, he made friends easily.

Cremation has been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge. A celebration of Urmas’ life will be held at Wooden Sticks Golf Club, Uxbridge, Ontario, on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 1 PM to 4 PM.

Passed away peacefully at Oak Ridges Hospice, Port Perry on Thursday September 19, 2024, at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Margaret Ann for 61 years. Cherished by his daughters Denise (Deacon Robert) and Elizabeth. Proud grandpa of Adam (Christina), Rebecca (T.J), Samantha, Michael and Andrew. Devoted great grandpa of Jeffrey, Deacon, Cassidy, Gabriel, Wes, and Aubree. James will be deeply missed by his extended family and many friends.

James was a tool and die maker at General Motors for several years, and in his free time he enjoyed building steam engines. A Funeral Mass will be held to celebrate James' life on Thursday October 10, 2024, at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church (690 King Street East, Oshawa, 905-433-0828) at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry.

John passed away peacefully at home, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents, Anna (née Kawchuk) & John Sylvestervich Sr., John leaves behind the love of his life, Gail (née Williams), his children, Andrea (Robert), Paul (Dorota) and Krista (Jason), and his much loved grandchildren, Heather, Daphne, Jonathan, Liam and Tegan.

Born in Val d’Or, Quebec, John moved with his parents to Ontario, where they lived in various farming communities. Following his graduation from McMaster University, John commenced his teaching career at Henry St. high school, where he met his wife, Gail. A passionate educator, John made a positive impact on so many lives through his teaching, his work as a Vice-Principal, and later Principal, and as a champion for using new technologies in education. His love of computers was life-long, and he was always happy to help anyone in need of his expertise. John was a very active member of Faith United Church, and spent many years sharing his time and talents there. His last few years were spent caring for his wife, Gail, and enjoying time with his family.

The family would like to express their appreciation to John’s care team, who helped so much during his cancer journey.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, or Faith United Church (Courtice), or the charity of your choice.

A funeral service will be held at Faith United Church, 1778 Nash Rd., Courtice, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30pm, with the funeral at 1:30pm, and a reception to follow.

Janet Helene Sproul (née La Porte), passed away peacefully with her family at her side on September 25, 2024 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, in her 90th year.

A lifelong resident of Oshawa, Janet was the eldest of six daughters born to Joseph and Alice (née Johnson) La Porte. Janet was predeceased by her husband of 54 years Ronald John Sproul (d. 2009). Beloved mother of Randy (Dale), Russell (Deborah), Laura (predeceased 2018) and Mark (Christie). Loving grandmother to Jason (Gen), Adam, Jamie (Matthew), Rachel and Hannah. Loving great-grandmother of Kimberly, Ryan, Megan and Logan. Janet is survived by her 5 loving sisters Loraine (Dale), Linda (David), Bernice (Sonny), Norma (Ken) and Loretta (Steve); and by her brother-in-law Jim (Shirley) and sister-in-law Marie. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.

Always caring, sharing and hosting family and friends, quiet and smiling, happy to see everyone together. Now reunited with her husband Ronald and daughter Laura.

LeeAnne will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul whose smile radiated towards all the people who knew her. She taught Yoga and Pilates for many years, and was a supporter of the metastatic Cancer Support Group at Hearth Place.
