March 1, 1942 - September 30, 2022
At the age of 80 with his loving family by his side, Bob passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa after a brief battle with Leukemia.
Beloved husband of Sheila for 53 years and loving father of three daughters, Meredith (Chris), Stephanie (Mike) and Julia (Sam).
He loved and was so proud of his seven grandchildren Jamie, Dahlia, William, Gavin, Eleanor, Celeste and Matthew. He will be greatly missed by his sister Joanne, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Bob was born in Oshawa where he attended O’Neill Collegiate and was an active member of the football team.
He was an avid curler and spent his weekends skiing at Kirby Ski Club.
Following high school Bob earned a BA in History from the University of Western Ontario, followed by his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Toronto.
While at U of T Bob was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity where he made many lifelong friends.
It is while studying to become a dentist that Bob met the love of his life, Sheila, and they married.
Following graduation Sheila and Bob returned to Oshawa where he enjoyed a successful dental career for over 45 years. His staff and patients remained loyal to Dr. Bob; many of his team were with him for the majority of his career and when he retired he was proud to say that he had been the dentist to many families for generations.
One of Bob’s favourite pastimes in life was skiing.
Most winters involved a ski holiday somewhere in North America with his ‘skiing buddies’, the memories of which he cherished long after he hung up his skis.
Summers were spent at the family cottage where Bob loved pulling the kids on water-skis behind the boat or watching the sun set over the lake from the deck.
The only thing that kept Bob away from the cottage in the summer was the annual fishing trips he took with his group of amazing fishing friends.
Thoughts of sipping scotch by night and catching fish by day were some of Bob’s most treasured memories. For several years he was involved with the Oshawa Hawkeyes Football Club.
He was proud to claim a pilot’s license as one of his great achievements. He also enjoyed scuba diving when the chance arose while on vacations in warm climates.
Lately, sitting on his deck watching his grandchildren playing in the pool, was Bob’s happiest pastime. He was a doting grandfather, a loving husband and proud father.
He will be greatly missed by all.
Donations made to Lakeridge Health Oshawa are welcome in lieu of flowers.
We would also like to encourage Bob’s family and friends to please consider becoming regular blood donors. www.blood.ca
Arrangements have been entrusted to McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME Ltd., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558).

I am deeply saddened to announce the death of my wife Dianne Elizabeth Stackhouse at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa Ontario whilst in the throes of Dementia.
This shattering disease is definitely not to be hidden or ignored.
But neither should it be permitted to dominate all the memories of our loved ones.
Dianne was raised in the Ottawa area where she was the eldest of five.
Dianne graduated With a BA from Carleton University and later from the University of Toronto with a Masters in Social Work.
Her 35-year working career in the health field began at Whitby Psychiatric Hospital where she met her husband Brian McLatchie, followed by many years at the Addiction Foundation in Toronto and finally in the Continuing Care Unit at Oshawa General Hospital.
She was a compassionate person who cared for everyone including family, friends, patients and complete strangers. She was an interesting person in that she was both a true Lady and also a basic Gal who enjoyed a couple of pints at all types of Pubs. Everyone loved Dianne.
She gave a lot and asked for little. She was special.
One would be remiss not to acknowledge the wonderful care Dianne received during her final journey with Dementia.
Her Brothers Ian and Charles and Sister-in-Law Véronique who came from the Ottawa region on a regular basis for the last 2 years.
Many friends were also so kind with special mention to Ed and Joan, Gord and Linda, Rodger and Grace and Helen. Also, of course, the PSWs who cared for Dianne at our home and the wonderful staff at the Pine Ridge unit at Hillsdale Estates.
They all helped make it possible for Dianne to complete her final journey with dignity and care.
Dianne is survived by her Husband Brian, Brothers Ian and Charles, Sister Donna in British Columbia, Sisters-in-law Véronique and Barbara along with a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Bruce.
Dianne’s wish was to be cremated.
A celebration of her live will be held next summer in her garden.
If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to a CHARITY of your choice.

Died peacefully on September 23, 2022, at the age of 97, at her home in Oshawa in the company of her daughters.
She was the loving wife of Richard Bexfield for 67 years, till his death in 2017.
Sadly, she was predeceased by her son, John (Shirley) in 2019.
We were fortunate to have our mother for so long.
She was a character - a great nurse, artist of many mediums - most notably China painting, lifelong learner, involved Granny, helpful and supportive Mom.
Her family spent many summers at our favourite spot, Cawaja Beach, enjoying the water by day, happy hour before supper, and in the evenings, she taught the grandchildren how to play rumoli and poker, something the next generation will be learning as well.
Left with sweet, fun, and loving memories of her, are her three daughters, Patricia (Martin), Joan (John), Sheila, ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as her three remaining sisters, Reta, Norah and Angela and many nieces and nephews.
Roses on your pillow, Mom.
There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
Veteran of WWII August 17, 1927 - September 16, 2022
Peacefully, on Friday, September 16, 2022, at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Toronto, at the age of 95.
Diane is now reunited with her loving husband of 57 years, Peter Savage.
Loving mother to Mark and his wife, Elaine, and Alexandra and her late husband, James Ferr. Adoring grandmother to Jennifer (Tom), Tanya (Radek), Alies (Ivan), Laura (Stephen), and Alison (Mike).
Gigi to Sophie, Hunter, Isla, Ethan, and Adon.
Born in Belgium, Diane was evacuated to England at the age of 8 and raised by relatives until her family could join her.
She proudly served in the British Armed Forces as a Lieutenant with ENSA (Entertainments National Service Association) entertaining the Allies of WWII in Germany in 1945.
Two years later she met a hands
ome Royal Navy Seafire pilot wailing on a tenor sax at a jam session. He and another sailor offered to walk her home. They both asked her out but she said she could only pick one. She and dad were inseparable for 60 years.
They married in the Bath Abbey.
Opportunity awaited a few years later in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, where they put down roots.
While her family was the light of her life, Diane found her other calling by volunteering with the Queensway General Hospital for over 30 years.
A natural storyteller her whole life, she continued to entertain her many friends and family here and overseas. Her vivacious personality and smile warmed the hearts of those who knew her and strangers alike.
She lived her life with joy, every single day.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations to SickKids Foundation would be appreciated and condolences may be expressed online at: wctownfuneralchapel.com .
