October 6, 1958 - February 18, 2016Gloriously brave and graciously thoughtful, Jill lived an amazing life full of love, happiness and laughter.After a courageous battle with cancer, Jill passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, February 18, 2016.She was surrounded by her adoring husband John and cherished daughters Jennifer and Pamela. Jill was born on October 6, 1958, to Florence and Garfield (Bub) Hutton in Chateauguay Quebec.After graduating from St. Lawrence College with a Nursing Degree, Jill pursued a 25 year career caring for others. Jill had a zest for life and had a special gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel special, from her long-time friends from Chateauguay, friends in Whitby, and new friends in Harbour Village. She will be missed at the family’s cottage in Prescott, on the golf course, and at Costco. Jill’s infectious smile will be sadly missed by her husband John, daughters Jennifer (Alex) and Pamela (Nick), her mother Florence and a large extended family including sisters Joan, Jane (Mike), Susan and sister-in-law Cynthia (David), brother-in-law David (Jenny) and nieces and nephews Tony, Tracey, Scott, Caitlin, Tommy, Jillian, Shelby, Sam, Ben, Johnathon, Kaylee, Alexandra, Owen, Lily, and Kate and an endless number of family and friends.With special thanks to the wonderful medical staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa – Cancer Centre for their wonderful care.Visitation will be held at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME (21 Garrard Rd. Born in Garson Ontario (Sudbury), he moved to Oshawa with his mother in 1948 after the death of his father.Here, he met the love his life. Bill and Dorothy married in 1950 in Oshawa. Bill had his own plastering business for a while until he began working with the Western Waterproofing Company. They were involved in the construction and expansion of the St Lawrence seaway. The company did the waterproofing of the many houses that had to be moved in Morrisburg in the 1960s.Bill spent the last seventeen years of his career as the Maintenance Manager of the Oshawa Housing Authority. Bill and Dorothy enjoyed many winters in Florida. In 1989 Bill and Dorothy moved to St Catherine’s Ontario and enjoyed every second of their time there. They moved back to Oshawa in 2004 as they were “getting up in years”, wanting to be closer to their family.Bill was the patriarch of his family; loved and respected by all.He always spoke kindly to everyone he encountered. Bill was a Seventh Day Adventist and a member of the Kendalwood church in Whitby; a church he helped to build. He lived his beliefs and he honoured his faith. He loved his Lord and Saviour.Rest in Peace, dear Popa, until we meet again in the Kingdom of Heaven.A very special thank you to the staff at Trafalgar square at Fairview Lodge.
