Elaine Dorothy Phyllis - September 5, 1940 - October 23, 2019 Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on October 23, 2019. Dearly loved and survived by her niece Heather McCaillancourt, great niece Shalaya & great nephew Ethan McCaillancourt, brother-in-law Bob Hutchinson, cousins Barbara (& Brian) Gage, Lewis Reese, Kathy (late husband Craig) Harris, Donna (Ed ) and Kirk. Elaine is now at peace joining her adored sister Caryl Lee Hutchinson, mother & father Ruth and Harold Gillingham, along with her most treasured and adored pets Maggie & Tobi. Elaine will be missed by the Port Perry Artists, and her friends at Sunnybrae Golf Course.She also previously volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary. Elaine lived as a respected psychologist and teacher in Alberta for most of her career, also teaching in Ontario previously.She loved her golf, sports, and pets.Elaine had a natural artistic talent that she embraced and shared. Edris - July 21st, 1939 - October 18th, 2019. Edris Whittle, age 80, was born and grown in the hills of St. Thomas, Jamaica. On October 18th, 2019 while at Centenary Hospital God called her home to rest. She died peacefully and that brings a sense of calm to all who know and love her. She is now in Heaven shining down on us all.Survived by: Audrey Thomas, Maurice Thomas (Rhona Cunnings-Thomas), Ivoline DaCosta (Donovan Dennis), and Neville Williams. As a young woman, her life’s philosophy was to balance work and home responsibilities with the thrill of fun times and laughter. Edris loved simple joys with friends, like swimming in nearby Bath Fountain and soaking up the night life at local dances and clubs.Teeny had a reputation for being bold and the life of the party.Throughout life’s journey, Edris embodied respect, honesty and kindness despite not always receiving the same courtesy. Elmer Armas Arponen - September 27, 1942 – October 14, 2019 “We’ll remember for you” Elmer Armas Arponen, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease passed on Monday October 14, 2019 with his wife, sister and daughter by his side. Elmer was born on Elephant Lake, Harcourt, Ontario and resided in Toronto, Bowmanville and Underwood before moving to Newcastle in 2002.He was a police officer for the Ontario Provincial Police before retiring after years working Security at Ontario Power Generation. His favourite past times included fishing, golfing and spending as much time as he could at the cottage. Loving husband for 44 years to Lorraine (nee Bryant). Elmer will be missed by his daughter Carin and her husband Rick, as well as his son Armas.Also missed by his sister Helen (predeceased by sister Laila and brother Leo), his grandchildren Douglas, Izaack and Alice as well as many more relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville for their care and compassion over the two months he remained in hospital prior to passing.
