FOLEY, (Theresa) Jane (nee CAMPBELL) -
September 20, 1944 - July 25, 2024
We are saddened to share that Jane passed away last Thursday in the hospital, peaceful and surrounded by family.
She is survived by husband, Michael; children, Christine, Kevin, Bridget and Jeremy; siblings, Margaret Ann, Mary Lorraine and late brother, Kevin; aunt, Mary Ann; her grandchildren, Emmalyn, Madison, Matthew and Owen.
Jane achieved her RN certification at St. Joseph's hospital, upon graduating Lawrence Collegiate, then in midlife heroically passed the refresher course, going on to work at Mississauga Hospital, then a doctor's office.
In her private life, she was a dedicated mother and friend, always the first to offer a lift to appts, a meal or an ear.
Jane was an accomplished baker, voracious reader and dog lover. She loved nothing more than a lively cocktail party with friends, an opportunity for laughter and catching up - especially at the family cottage.
A wake will be held August 6, 4-8 p.m. at Glen Oaks Funeral Home (3164 Ninth Line, Oakville) and funeral August 7, 11 a.m. at St. Matthews (1150 Monks Passage, Oakville).
CESSAR, Frank - God called Frank peacefully on July 29, 2024 at the age of 93.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marion.
Cherished by his sons, James, Thomas, Peter and by the late, David.
Proud grandfather to 4. Adoring great-grandfather to 2.
He will be held dear in the hearts of his family, relatives, and many friends.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. David's Roman Catholic Church (2601 Major Mackenzie Dr., east of Jane St.). Cremation.
BROWN, Ivor Lincoln - Born in Seaford Town, Jamaica, West Indies to Edward Brown (Braun) and Ethel Topper, with siblings, Violet, Rudy, Eustace, Ivy, Bernard, Hubert (toddler death), and Ruth. oved to Canada in 1957 when he was 21.
Worked in London, Ontario as a male nurse, then obtained his Bachelor of Theology in Alberta, worked as a minister in Ottawa and Brantford for a few years, later worked at Henderson (now Juravinski) Hospital as an orderly, then as a porter at Hamilton General Hospital, eventually becoming head porter before his retirement.
He was a deacon for years at the Hamilton Mountain Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church.
He loved to sing and did so often in public and alone. He was the family's genealogist, researching the immigration of his European ancestors to Jamaica.
His lifetime of family research resulted in a 500 page book of his findings.
Once he retired, he moved to the town of Cobalt and joined the Old Age Club where he was frequently asked to sing.
Attended the Haileybury SDA church, enjoying the fellowship there and delivering sermons (and eulogies) when he had opportunity. His heartfelt singing frequently moved the listener to tears (e.g. "Ten Thousand Angels" - Ray Overholt).
He was a loving husband to Joan (who survives him) and kind father to Trevor. Ivor will be missed.
MENDYK, Donna Margaret (nee Birchard) -
12 July, 1936 – 28 July, 2024
Passed away peacefully at Thornton View Long Term Care in Oshawa on July 28, 2024, in her 89th year.
Beloved wife of the late Ted Mendyk.
Loving mother of Kathy Abbott (Bill), Steve Mendyk (Victoria) and Peter Mendyk.
Remembered with love by her grandchildren Brian Abbott (Lisa), Lisa Abbott, Mark Abbott (Amanda), Michelle Hoeg (Mike), Kyle Mendyk (Taylor), Allicia Mendyk, and two great grandchildren Jayden Abbott and Brooks Hoeg.
Predeceased by her parents Alice and James Birchard, and her sister Pat Potter.
Survived by her brother Ted Birchard. Donna graduated from Peterborough Civic Hospital nursing program and loved being a nurse. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, good neighbour and passionately loved her dog Snoopy. The family would like to thank Thornton View for their loving care during her stay there the last few years.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL , 1587 Highway #2, Courtice, on Friday August 9, 2024, with Visitation from 3:00 pm until time of service in the chapel at 4:00 pm.

BREWSTER, Robert (Bob) Brewster - Passed peacefully at his home on July 24, 2024, surrounded by his family, much love, and good music.
Beloved husband of 63 years to Doreen, cherished Dad of Terri (Wes) Kosciesza, and Kim Brewster.
Special Bo of Michael and Carlee Kosciesza.
Dear brother of the late Nan (Roy) Zillon and Jim Brewster. Uncle and Great-Uncle to many nieces and nephews, Brother-in-law to Joan and Jim Ward.
Sadly missed by his furry best buddy Mickey, and lovingly remembered by many life long friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 30th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville. The funeral service will be held Wednesday July 31st at The Salvation Army Oshawa Community Church, 570 Thornton Road N., Oshawa, at 2pm, following visitation at 1pm.

GARRINGER, Susan Margaret - Sue passed away peacefully at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital on July 29, 2024.
She was the loving and devoted wife of Rodney for 46 cherished years.
She will be dearly missed by her children Cory (Michelle McAvoy), Kristen (Christopher) Pilon, and Bradley (Kendra).
Special grandma of Easton and Quinn Pilon, and Taylor, Hadley, Oakley, and Finley Garringer.
As per Sue’s request, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.
If so desired, memorial donations to the Ronald McDonald Foundation or RVH Cancer Care Program would be appreciated by the family.
GORDON, Winifred Margaret (Nee Irving) Gordon - 76 of Pickering, passed away peacefully on July 25th,
2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Winnie (as she was fondly referred to) was born on September 26th, 1947 to the late Charles and Hilda Irving.
She trained and became a Registered Nurse at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh School of Nursing, then spent another year as a Midwife at The Queen Mothers Hospital in Glasgow.
After coming to Canada in 1971 she worked as a Registered Nurse and then on to teach Nursing at Durham College.
She was known for her dedication and compassion and fondly remembered by her students.
She married Ronald Gordon in 1971 and they shared 53 loving years together.
Winnie was always active in her community and was fast to make friends wherever she went. She was an active woman who was also very well travelled. She was fondly remembered by many of her students – one who even helped care for her in her final days.
Winnie is survived by her husband Ronald Gordon, sons, Richard and Douglas Gordon, grandchildren, Baily Dobbin, Connor Gordon, Ben Gordon, Oliver Gordon, Neve Gordon and predeceased by father, Charles Irving and mother, Hilda Irving and her daughter, Deborah Gordon.
A memorial service to be held at McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME in Ajax. Friday, August 2nd. 2024 at 2pm. 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax ON L1T 2Z7.

WRIGHT, Lawrence "Larry" Wright - Died peacefully during sleep on July 23, 2024, at the age of 81.
Larry was born in London, Ontario, to Clem and Florence Wright (nee Provost).
Larry is survived by and will be deeply missed by his wife, Anne; their children, David, Chris (Justin), Graham (Jessica); grandchildren, Emilia and Mary; and his brother, Ron (Robin) Wright; and sister, Louise (Terry) Hodgins.
Larry was an enthusiastic dog lover and golfer. He spent his summers at Bruce Beach, golfing, swimming, playing tennis, sailing, and raising his three boys.
He served his community through extraordinary service with Diabetes Canada and Rotary Club of Port Perry.
His impact and presence will be missed by his family, and those in the community where he lived.
HODGSON, Thelma Marion (nee STEWART) - Passed peacefully at Kitchener's Highview Residences on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the age of 95 years.
T. Marion Hodgson of Mississauga, Ontario, daughter of the late Eric Nimlin Stewart and the late Thelma Cunningham Morash.
Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years Robert Wilbert Hodgson and her dear sister, Sydney "Joan" Bowes.
Marion is survived by her sister, Helen "Rusty" K. Stewart. Marion will be dearly missed by her four sons and their partners, James Hodgson (Kimberley) of Fort Nelson, BC, Peter Hodgson (Linda) of Burlington, ON, David Hodgson (Lori) of Kitchener, Ont. and Douglas Hodgson of St. Albert, AB.
She was deeply loved and will be missed by her grandchildren, Joy, Sandra (Ed), Erin, Michael (Jackie), Kristen (Mike), Michael (Caroline), Matthew, Luke, Joel, Kyle, Mackenzie, Connor and Jack; and great-grandchildren, Ryan (Kristi) and Theodore (Michael) and her many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place.
