January 14, 1936-June 14, 2018 At home on Thursday, June 14, 2018, with great love we -Peggy and Andy-were by Mom’s side as she left this earth to be reunited with our dad (Marvin-2014).After a courageous battle with cancer, saying good-bye was super hard but knowing Mom is finally at peace and reunited with other loved ones gives us comfort and peace.Mom will lovingly be remembered by Andy (Laurie Ormston) and Peggy and her husband Greg Van Staveren. Adored Grammy of Kristen, Victorian, Thomas, Grayson and Janneke. Mom will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and lifelong friends in Brooklin.A special thanks to Dr. Caroline McAllister, Dr. Morra, Dr. Banihashemi and Dr. Parajian and the LHIN team who helped Mom throughout her journey. Ian Kenneth Chalmers
After a 25 month period of declining health, born and raised in Oshawa except for a 7 year period in North Bay, Ontario, Ian went “home” to be with His Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, peacefully at Hillsdale Terraces in his 95th year.He was the beloved husband of Agnes (Nessie) McKinlay Chalmers for almost 70 years and devoted and much-loved father of Eleanor (Chalmers) Meek.He was the father-in-law of Gerald Meek.Ian was the only son of John and Elizabeth Chalmers and half-brother of Jessie (Chalmers) Porter; all deceased - Scotland.He has remaining cousins in Scotland. Ian was the step-grandpa of Jeffrey (Trina), K. Amanda (Andre), J. Alexandra (Scott) and Gregory Meek (Krista) and great-“pa” to Shaye, Molly, Elliot, Abigail, Charlotte, Lainey, Ben and Felix; 9th due in August.Ian was in the RCAF during WWII 423rd squadron, Leading Air Craftsman stationed in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He was a founding member, first of 2 elders, Clerk of Session and Sunday school secretary of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church for 9 years.Dad officially retired in 1985 from the Customs and Excise Department of the Federal Government after a 6 month disability term. He had over 36 years of service. For the past 6.5 years he has received wonderful, compassionate care by the staff of Hillsdale Terraces. Passed away peacefully into the arms of God and her beloved husband the late Benoit Robichaud at Lakeridge Oshawa on Saturday May 19, 2018.She was surrounded by loved ones. Imelda's treasured sisters Emma (Vincent) of New Brunswick , May (Zoel) of Oshawa and brother Donald of New Brunswick share in the sorrow of her passing along with many nieces and nephews. Late brother Eddie of Quebec and late sister Cecile of New Brunswick await her heavenly arrival. Loving mother to her sons Zoel (Leone), Louis (Sheena) Paul (Wendy), Gilles (Virginia), Vince (Karen), Guy (Debi), Fred (Rhonda), Normand (Pauline) and daughter and angel Paulette (Patrick). Mimi will be deeply missed by her 28 grandchildren , 28 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her happiest times were spent with family laughing, singing and doting over grandchildren and spending time at the mall with friends. Special thanks to the healthcare staff at Lakeridge Hospital for their compassionate care. Peacefully with loving family by his side on May 8, 2018 at age 96.Survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Janny (van Dam), and their seven children, Margaret (late Dr. Dan Offord), Dan, Glenn (Leslie), Paul (Veronique), René (Pat), Lisa, and Jennifer (Rick).Survived by his brother Gerard (Jetty) of the Netherlands.He leaves behind many wonderful fun-filled memories with his grandchildren Caroline (Mike), Janeen (Nathan), Sam (Emily), Christina, Rob, Schuyler, Eric, Danielle, Shane, Quinlan, Ayden, Logan, Bryce, Zachary, Joshua, Jack and Kyle, and 6 great grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren.Fondly remembered by his former son-in-law, Paul Parkin, and many extended family and friends.Predeceased by siblings Arnold, Cornelia, Joop, Dien, Jaap and Jeanne. Born in Gouda, the Netherlands, Izaak immigrated to Canada as a newlywed with Janny in 1948.His father (late Johannes), was a well-known orchestra conductor and chess champion and his mother (late Margretha Brokaar) was a business woman and mother of eight. Izaak had an extraordinary zest for living and learning, with a quick wit and sense of humour, he injected fun into everything he enthusiastically took on.He was an expert gardener but he had a long career in Canada as a skilled and talented builder and carpenter of eight custom homes, including every home his family lived in, the family cottage, fine furniture, along with significant career accomplishments such as the wooden roller coaster at Canada’s Wonderland, Sherway Gardens and many others.He had a natural connection with his grandchildren who enjoyed spending time with him. Izaak was an outdoorsman who studied wild plants at his cottage and home in Perth.His adventurous spirit was the inspiration of many family outings hiking, biking, skating, swimming and waterskiing into his late 70s.The family would like to thank the staff of Chartwell Wynfield Long Term Care for their outstanding care and kindness.Donations in his memory to the World Wildlife Fund Canada or Christie Lake Kids are gratefully appreciated.Cremation.
