December 25, 1948 - Wednesday, November 15th, 2023
It is with a heavy heart to announce that Edison (Eddy) Aslanfard, left this world on November 15, 2023 at 11:04pm.
He was 74 years old, just shy of his 75th birthday, which would have been on December 25.
He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.
Devoted husband to Sylvana, his beloved wife of almost 50 years. Helpful father to 2 daughters, Tania and Tasha, and most loving Papa to his little prince, Haedyn, and his 2 grand-fur babies, Barkley and Cleo.
Eddy was stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and unique sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave.
Eddy’s battle with years of medical issues showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile.
Despite the pain he felt on the inside, his strong-will always prevailed and he came out a little less grumpy on the other side. For those that knew him well, Eddy considered himself a “doctor without the diploma” and made friends wherever he went.
He could start a conversation with anyone about anything and found his own ways to make you laugh and smile. Eddy may have complained more than complimented, but he never hung up the phone without saying “I love you” and in his final days, he was sure to let us know just how much we meant to him.
He would always say, “I love you as much as you love me”. So this is for you, Dad, ‘we love you as much as you loved us’. You are finally at peace, pain-free, in paradise. In typical Eddy fashion, there are no traditional services planned, certainly no pomp and circumstance as he was simple man.
To honor Eddy’s memory, we are holding a celebration of his life on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME 5295 Thickson Rd. N, Whitby, ON L1M 1W9 between 2-4 pm and 6-8pm.
We invite anyone who knew him to attend and remember all the good times.
We ask attendees to dress comfortably, just as Eddy would have done, and bring a memory or story to share.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear Mother on November 13th at Centennial Place in Millbrook, where she had been so well cared for the last two years .
She passed peacefully with her family by her side.
Predeceased by her parents George and Josephine Velichcoff, her siblings and her husband David Ambrose Watson. Survived by her Sons David and Bill and her grandson Vaughn, as well as numerous in-laws, nephews and their families.
Elena always loved her family first and encouraged her son’s to play every sport and enjoy every activity imaginable. She made everything work in every circumstance and though widowed in her mid-forties managed her home, finances and her career with great success.
She is best known for her long career as an elementary school teacher during the 70’s and 80’s at Lincoln Avenue Public School in Pickering Village and later in the 90’s at Applecroft Public School in Ajax.
She was a well loved and enthusiastic teacher especially of arts and crafts and all sports. Elena was an avid gardener and had an amazing green thumb, her flower gardens were always spectacular and she was ready with advice to share her considerable knowledge on plants.
She’ll be missed by her Lincoln Ave friends (especially Bev and Bernice) who were so important to her both during her career and for many years later playing golf and many other activities.
