Ernie Wessely

Ernie Wessely

Listed in

1947 - 2023

For much of his adult life Ernie had struggles with his health.

Early today (July 15, 2023) that struggle ended peacefully, and he is now at rest.

We met in high school and have been together for over 50 years. Our fifty-second anniversary would have been in August.

Like any relationship we had our ups and downs, but shared many wonderful travels camping in trailers, cruising (mostly the Caribbean) and of course travelling on trains- his favourite mode of transportation.

From our honeymoon trip through the Rockies to our many steam excursions and our 28-day trip through the United States, trains were always a big part of our travels. I will miss that call to adventure that never seemed to leave him.

He was a husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a Scout Leader, trip supervisor for numerous class trips and excursions, and for many years a Big Brother. His long-time best friend, Larry Taylor, will miss their trips to McDonalds for coffee, and debates about news of the day.

He was an irascible individual, set in his ways and expressive about his opinions and we will all miss him.

A informal gathering of friends and family will be held Tuesday, July 25 from 5 pm to 8pm at the McEachnie Funeral home Family Centre. We welcome shared memories from any who wish to give them.

In lieu of flowers (which he never liked) a donation in remembrance to your favourite charity is welcomed.
