After a long journey with dementia, Lenora is finally reunited with her beloved husband Burton.
Lenora is survived by her three children Mary Jane MacArthur (Brent), Bob Morrison (Loree) and Sally McGill. She was the loving grandmother of Jillian Fenik (Colin), Jeremy Quinn (Kristen), Jenny Hughes (Andrew Carr), Matthew Hughes (Paula), Patrick Hughes, Erin Vincent (Matthew Roy) and Adam Vincent (Kelly). She is remembered by her nine great-grandchildren, Abbigael and Garin Fenik, Isla and Eliana Quinn, Ben Hughes, and Taylor, Ashton, Presley and Everley Vincent. Lenora was born in Wiarton but grew up in Walkerton where she went to school with, met and married Burt. Lenora trained as a registered nurse at the KW Hospital in Kitchener, graduating in 1949. She moved with Burt and their three children to Toronto in 1958 so that Burt could complete his university degree and teaching credentials while Lenora worked as an occupational health and private duty nurse. They briefly lived in Newmarket before moving to Owen Sound in 1964, so that Burt could teach at West Hill Secondary School until his retirement. They travelled together to Scotland, Ireland, England, Germany, Poland Australia and New Zealand so that Burt could research and visit relatives in each country.
Lenora loved to play bridge as a member of the Baker Street Club, to curl at the Grey Granite Club, to golf, to deliver Meals on Wheels for several years and to participate in Golden Kiwanis activities with Burt. She enjoyed entertaining her friends and family on special occasions and was a great cook. We were grateful recipients of her knitted handiwork. Lenora led a very active life until the onset of her dementia.
We would like to thank Lee Manor for their compassionate care of Lenora for the past seven years, especially Dr. Van Zyl and Randy who took such great care of her.
A funeral service to celebrate Lenora’s life will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 12 p.m.(noon), with visitation two hours prior.
