Predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman; and later partner, Douglas Tate. Loving mother of Peter (Valerie), Leslie (Tom), Martha (Richard), and Beth (Marven).

Dearest grandmother of Catherine (Andrew), Michael (Darcey), Stephanie, Pierce, Bryan (Dani), Charlotte, Nicholas, Claire and John Peter.

Proud great-grandmother of Audrey, Danny, Claire, Sophia, Hannah, Keaton, A.J., Finley, and Marlow.

Born in Cornwall, Ontario on June 27, 1929, Barbara became a Registered Nurse, and joined Trans-Canada Airlines (now Air Canada) as a flight attendant. While raising her family, she continued her nursing career with North York General Hospital.

Barbara loved to travel, enjoyed reading, and was an avid bridge player and expert knitter. She participated in lawn bowling and cross-country skiing into her eighties.

Barbara was an incredible person and will remain forever in our hearts.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Toronto Humane Society.

VanHORNE, Brian Vanhorne - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Brian Vanhorne announce his passing at the Humber River Hospital, Toronto on July 27, 2024 with his daughters by his side.

He was a beloved son of his late parents Keith Vanhorne (2005) and Jean Vanhorne (2012).

Brian was predeceased by his wife Darlene (2016).

Grieving his loss are his children Holly, Sarah and Brian Jr., and his grandchildren Cameron and Wyatt.

Remembering him with love and mourning his loss are his siblings Carolyn (Steven Coffey), Larry (Ellen), Wayne (Monique), Ray (Linda), Janet (Doug Botting) and Julie. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews.

Brian loved hunting, fishing and could fix anything.

He was a jack of all trades and master of making people laugh and smile. He had many good friends and made many great memories. Our dad worked hard his whole life providing for his family as a successful printer. He was the sole operator and owner of "The Jet Shop" .

When we asked our dad what his greatest accomplishment of his life was, his answer was "you kids."

A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held on August 24, 2024 at the Rotary Club of Stirling, 122 North Street, Stirling from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Tributes will be shared at 1:00pm.

Anka Vukelic passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the age of 97.

She was predeceased by her husband Marko, parents and twelve brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her loving children: son Kresimir (Donna) and daughter Maria (John); grandchildren: Sara (Richard), Jason, Shadi (Tasha), Amanda and Mark; great-grandchildren: Adelie, Arianne, Kyrie, and Blake.

She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother (Baka) who loved us all so much. We are all going to miss her love, laughter, stories, and her amazing food that she showered us with our entire lives.

God took her peacefully, for that we are all grateful to reunite in heaven with Tata and all her family that she spoke of often and missed so dearly. Her body and mind is whole, and her spirit is free to be with her loved ones again on her new journey.

Mom, we all miss and love you, and thank you for all that you did for all of us in our lives. We will forever carry you in our hearts until we meet again.

A very special thank you to all the staff at Spring Valley Care Center for their love and care over the years. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Segers & Jackie for all their exceptional care and regard for Mom and her health through all these years. Thank you for all your support and kindness.

A beloved and cherished wife to Eric for 53 years, a devoted and dear mother to Julie, Lesley and Paul, a loving grandmother to Lauren, Gillian and Ryan, mother-in-law to Glenn, Gareth and Martin, great-grandmother to Jackson and Russell.

Valerie had a full and eventful life, she was part of many groups and committees. A social and active woman, her interests were varied and diverse. With a pragmatic approach to life and many friends around the world, she will be greatly missed by all who loved her and she will be forever held closely in the hearts of her family and friends. We will miss you xxxx

In keeping with Valerie’s wishes there will be a private cremation. Friends are welcome to visit the family on Monday, May 27 between 10 am & 12 noon to pay their respects at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby.

Passed away on June 16, 2024 after a brief stay in Kingston General Hospital.

Enzo was close to his 96th birthday and lived at home until the end. He was born in Genova, Italy on November 24, 1928 and had a long, impactful career as a Builder in Ontario.

Everybody who knew Enzo will remember him as a cultured, witty and principled man with a funny observation ready at hand. Incredibly intelligent, forever curious and a rapacious reader it was hard to get anything past him.

Enzo joins his dear spouse Mimia and his beloved children Antonella (Michael) and Paolo (Leslie) who predeceased him.

He leaves behind his son Filippo (Melanie) as well as grandchildren: Marco, Luca, Kris, Emma, Mila and Juno and great-grandchildren Leia, Sage, Julia and Layla.

He will be interred at Union Cemetery in Oshawa.

Passed suddenly on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Rockwood Terrace Nursing Home, Durham, formerly of Markdale, in her 70th year.

She is re-united with her beloved husband, Keith (2001). Dear Loved and remembered by her granddaughters Bree and Sierra Hardy. Missed by her siblings, Barbara (Manfred) Voss of Dundalk, and Ralph (Sandy) Walsh of Markdale, Cheryl of Dundalk and Bill (Pauline) Walsh of Markdale. Cherished by the Brown family, including her in-laws, Cheravine, Ken and Ruth Brown, Betty Ferguson, and Ron Brown. She will be forever missed by her many nieces and nephews especially her biggest fan and supporter, Mary (Doug) Weber. She leaves behind her beloved cat fur babies, Ginger and Mia.

Valerie was born May 11, 1954 in Markdale to the late Garnet and Frances Walsh. The oldest of their 5 children, she attended school in Wodehouse before graduating from Grey Highlands Secondary School. Valerie met and married the love of her life, Keith on May 31,1975 and they started their lives together. Hardworking would not begin to describe Valerie,working at Stanley Knights Flooring in Meaford for many years. She was the first one to arrive to work and almost always the last to leave. She had a big heart for her cats and her collection of rabbit figurines. She enjoyed raising cattle for many years, even though she rarely turned a profit. She enjoyed maintaining her front lawn that consisted more of flowers than grass. She was often seen with a radio by her side which she enjoyed immensely as it gave her much comfort.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and support staff at the Markdale Hospital and Dr. Harvey Winfield for her care prior to moving to the nursing home.
At Valerie’s request, there will be no service at this time, however, a spring interment will take place at Flesherton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Grey Bruce Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.

Peacefully in Owen Sound at Chapman House Residential Hospice on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.  Born in The Pas, Manitoba on June 20, 1940, Violet Irene Kurschinski (nee McCuaig) of Sauble Beach, was in her 84th year.

Beloved wife for 64 years of Robert “Whitey” Kurschinski of Sauble Beach.  Loving mother of Bob Kurschinski (Drina) of Waterloo and Kelly Doucette of Sauble Beach.  Cherished grandma of Kellen (Steph), Kara, Kassy and Missy.  Dear sister of Larry McCuaig of Ottawa, Brenda Cressman of Elmira, Bonnie Weppler of Waterloo and Ian McCuaig (Brenda) of Point Clark.  Sister in law of Ken Kurschinski of Elmwood.  Irene will also be missed by her nieces, nephews and friends.

Predeceased by her parents, John and Jean McCuaig, by her brother in law Terry Cressman and by her sister in law Marg Kurschinski. Irene was very much involved with her Sauble Christian Fellowship family.

Irene’s love for people was her gift.  She loved everyone.  Nothing brought her more joy than to play bridge two or three times a week, getting together with her bible study ‘besties’, walking the beach and spending her evenings watching the sunset with neighbours and friends.

Irene’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the care and compassion she received from Dr. Kelly Fenn, Dr. Alex Hodgson and Care Partner’s Team 3 and Team 5.

A funeral service to celebrate Irene’s life will be held at Sauble Christian Fellowship Church, 27 Southampton Parkway, Sauble Beach, 519-422-1437, on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed through the church website. Interment will take place in Zion Cemetery at a later date.

With deep sadness we announce the loss of Violet McKie who passed away on Friday, January 5th, 2024, in her 100th year while residing at Meaford Long Term Care Home.

Preceded in death by her husband Ernest Drury in 1966, and then by her husband Jack McKie in 2007.

Violet is survived by her children; Dennis (Jeann), Gary (Pat), Brian (Nancy), Darlene, Peter (Jessica), and was predeceased by her daughter Evelyn. She was also survived by 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren.

Violet was born in Lewisporte, Newfoundland on Feb 29th 1924 and relocated to Toronto in 1942. She lived in Miramichi, New Brunswick and with Jack were missionaries for the Shantyman from 1970 to 1999. Their mission work involved talking to folks aboard ships, in prisons, and in their extensive fair ministry. They were missionaries from about 1969 till the passing of Jack in 2007.

Violet had been a member of Dovercourt Baptist Church in Toronto since about 1967 although since moving to Meaford was a faithful member of Olivet Baptist Church since approximately 1999.

Family will receive friends for a visitation at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 4 until 6 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 1 o’clock at the funeral home. A service of committal and interment will be conducted at Glendale Cemetery in Etobicoke at a later date.

Cherished grandma of Danielle Gutzke (Wes Inglis) of Belmore, Amanda Gutzke of Kitchener and Madison Gutzke of Kitchener. Dear sister of Carl Kaufman (Evelyn) and sister-in-law of Evelyn Hausfelt. Vera will also be missed by nieces, nephews and friends.

Predeceased by her parents William and Hilda Kaufman (nee Wepper), siblings Staurt, John and Harry.
Vera enjoyed helping others and she showed this by becoming a PSW and the volunteer work she did for meals on wheels through Community Care. She enjoyed her independence here in Owen Sound.

A memorial service to celebrate Vera’s life will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492 on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Fred Ludolph officiating, followed by a reception at the funeral home.
