It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kenneth Albert Thomas Giles. Kenneth passed away peacefully at his home in Ashburn, ON on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at the age of 91.
He was born in Mono Township, Dufferin County on December 7, 1930.
Kenneth is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Sally of Ashburn, ON; his daughter Deborah Rapini (Domenic) of Burlington, ON; his son Ian Giles (Rose) of Toronto, ON; his son Andrew Giles of Ashburn, ON; his son Jamie Giles (Chrystne) of Prince Albert, ON; his grandchildren Derek (Carrie), David (Brier), Wolf, Josephine, Katherine, Jackson; and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Albert E. Giles and Florence E. Hooper; his brother Edward Giles of Midland, ON; his sister Jean Ferraro of Guelph, ON; and his son, Michael Lewis Giles of Burlington, ON.
He was a Skipper on the Canadian Olympic Sailing team and won the “Banff Award” for the most outstanding officer in the Royal Canadian Army Cadets. Ken was also a commissioned Lieutenant and an engineer on the AVRO Arrow project. The president of three large companies and a founding member of Big Trout Conservation Club, Ken had also been a member of Kiwanis, Optimist, and CanRide clubs.
Family and friends are invited to Low and Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry, on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 for visitation at 11a.m. followed by a service to celebrate Ken’s life in the chapel at 1p.m. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held. A family burial service will be held at noon on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Boston Mills Cemetery in Boston Mills, ON.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society- Breast Cancer Research.
May 21, 1958 - November 6, 2022
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on November 6, 2022, at the age of 64.
Kim was a pillar of strength in her family and community as well as a champion for change, advocating to improve the rights and health of women in Canada.
Kim had a brilliant wit with a heart-warming laugh.
She had a deep reverence for art, literature, and singing, with a sense of imagination and adventure, which she instilled in her children.
Her home was always a safe, welcoming place filled with unconditional love and support for her children and many who called Kim their second mother.
Beloved wife of Brian Hogel.
Loving mother of Shannon Brown (Kelly), Jesse Brown, Jasmine Brown-Alves (Rui), and Lindsay Watson (Nicole).
Adored grandmother of Diago, Angelina, Alexandria, and Lucas. Dearly loved and missed sister of Debbie Ogden (Norman). Kim will be greatly missed by her large extended family and many friends.

1927 – 2022
Passed away at Thorntonview Long Term Care, in Whitby on Friday, November 4, 2022 in her 95th year.
Kay is survived by her children Sharon, Marg, Mickey, Darlene, Sam, Manny, Rebecca and Wayne.
She is predeceased by her son Harry. She was the proud Grandma of Jennifer, Jeanette, Julie, Tamara, Todd, Collin, Ian, Rebecca, Anthony, Nicole, Jaymee, Richard, Morgan, Ashlyn, Angela, Daniel, Johnny, and Thomas.
She was Great Grandma to 19 beautiful children and 7 Great Great Beauty Grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Vanessa, her nurse at Thorntonview for the loving care provided to mom, along with the many others who assisted in her care during her years there.
And to The Greek Tycoon Restaurant in Whitby where she often wandered and where she was always treated with immense kindness.
Cremation has taken place and we’d like to thank the kind staff at St Johns Norway in Toronto, for their loving care in Kay’s cremation.
A celebration of life will be held at The Newcastle Funeral Home on Thursday, November 24, 2022 from 2 to 5 pm.
Kay’s passions were elephants and oh so many dogs.

On November 6, 2022, Keith Ainslie Brodie passed away peacefully at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital at the age of 85.
Keith will be sorrowfully missed by Carol, his beloved wife of 65 years, his children Jim (Barb) Brodie of Uxbridge and Diane (Gary) Wallenwein of Markham, his grandchildren Brent (Rachel) Brodie, Robert (Laura) Brodie, Alysha Wallenwein, Camden Wallenwein and great grandson Oliver Brodie.
Keith was raised on the Brodie Family Farm on Stouffville Side Road and was the eldest son of Bill and Eva Brodie. He is survived by his brother Bryan and predeceased by his brother Neil.
Keith and Carol lived in Markham where they raised their family and were active members of the Markham Missionary Church.
Keith was a long-time employee of Bell Canada for 36 years. The last 15 years have been spent in their home in Uxbridge where Keith embraced the role of a friendly neighbour and volunteering at the Cardiac Rehab Centre at Southlake Hospital.
Keith was a quiet, patient and kind gentleman. He was known for his willingness to help and serve others, his integrity, faith in God and love for his family. He was such a handyman and excellent craftsman no doubt due to his guiding principle of “measure twice, cut once”. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix.
Friends and family are invited to A Celebration of Keith’s Life to be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 1:00 with visitation one hour prior beginning at 12:00 at Low and Low Funeral Home in Uxbridge. A Private Family Interment will be held at Melville Church Cemetery in Markham.
In honour of Keith’s life, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

It is with sadness, the family of Keith Avis, announce his sudden passing on Sunday November 6th, 2022 in his 77th year.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Judy Avis.
Father to Kerry Avis Henry (Leon). “Popa” to Austin. Brother to John Avis.
A lifelong resident of Frenchman’s Bay, Keith always enjoyed talking about living by the water and recounting his dew worm picking business at the age of 5.
He recently retired from operating his business, Keith Avis Haulage Ltd, for 53 years where gladly shared his endless trucking stories with anyone who visited “The Shop” (including recounting the last haul of gravel down the DVP before retirement).
A private family service will be held with interment at Erskine Cemetery.

With a very heavy heart, on November 4, 2022 we said goodbye to our beloved husband, father and grandfather, KOSTA HRISTOV.
Kosta leaves behind his loving wife Dafina of 45 years, his daughter Diana (Bozidar) his son Billy and his grandchildren Dimitar and Leah.

He was finally set free from his battle with cancer.

Karen was the dear daughter of Donna (Carlin) Gardiner and pre-deceased by her father Charles Gardiner.
She will be dearly missed by her sister Sheila Gardiner, and her brother Brent Gardiner.

Visitation will be held at the Mangan Funeral Home on Sunday October 30th from 1-2 P.M. A celebration of life will be held after the visitation at the Royal Canadian Legion, Beaverton (2-4 P.M.)
