May 5, 1970 - April 17, 2024

Passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Wednesday April 17th, 2024 at the age of 53 after a battle with cancer.

Dear and loving husband of Tamara.

Much loved Son of David and Margaret Hardy and brother of Elaine Hardy and her husband Paul Lowes.

Mike will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Michael was a fun-loving, sociable and generous person who made friends wherever he went. He attended Centennial College to train for tool and die work, and thereafter always had a job at which he worked hard, becoming a well-regarded tradesman at Ball Packaging.

He was happily married to Tamara, the love of his life, for 25 years.

Together, they lived life to the fullest, enjoying many good times with family and their many friends. Mike’s marriage to Tamara opened up a new world for him as they travelled to Tamara’s birthplace, Iran, as well as to Egypt, Las Vegas and many times to Niagara Falls.

Mike loved the family cottage where he and Tamara hosted wonderful gatherings of family and friends.

He loved to hang out in the garage with the guys sharing drinks and smokes after ATV expeditions in the surrounding forest.

In winter the same joy resulted from snowmobiling on the lake and trails. Duck hunting at an annual “boy’s weekend” with cousins and friends at Lake Nipissing was also a tradition that Mike treasured.

He brought so much joy to his parents and family throughout his life, and his passing will leave a great void in our lives, and in the lives of all that he touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined.

Peacefully but unexpectedly passed away on Saturday April 13th, 2024, in her 97th year, after being surrounded by her family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years Steve in 2007.

Dear mother of Nancy Addington (Richard), Janet Sirko (Fabio Dal Grande) and Ron (Ann).

Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Laura (Dave), David, Ashley, Brock, Ryan, Brooklyn.

Great grandchildren Chloe & Audre.

Mary was a proud and very accomplished gardener. She was an annual winner of awards from The City of Oshawa receiving the “Premier Garden of the Week” recognizing her multiple award winning gardens and to thank her for her contribution to the beautification of the City.

When it was time to move into an apartment Mary made the transition easily, enjoying her new found friends, the spectacular view and scenery throughout the seasons.

Mary treasured her family, her home, her garden and her friends. Mary remained very active her entire life. She was always cheery and always in an uplifted mood, brightening the day of everyone she saw, especially her precious friends. She was pleased she could walk at a pretty good pace down the hall of her residence, using her walker.

She enjoyed the greetings of "hello Mary" of her fellow residents. Mary enjoyed the company of her friends at dinner, regarding them fondly and described them as "her family".

Mary's children learned it was not that unusual for Mary and her friends to break out in laughter and song occasionally as they exchanged stories of their lives. When visiting Mary, she would let you know, it was time for you to leave by pleasantly saying, with a smile, "thank you for coming".

That was your cue to say goodbye. Special thanks to her personal support workers from Bayshore and Bloom for making her time there so special. Sincere appreciation to Lakeridge Health Oshawa Emergency and Palliative Teams for their kindness, compassion and care.

Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East on Saturday April 20th, at 11am. Followed by entombment at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10am to 11am.

Donations in memory of Mary can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or the charity of your choice.
