Passed away on August 10, 2019 at the age of 80, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was born in a small town Colle d’Anchise, Molise Italy on June 2, 1939. Predeceased by her beloved husband Berardino (1997), mourning her loss are her loving children John (Flora), Ann (Domenic) and Andy (Tina).Her grandchildren Joe (Christina), Stephanie (Jeremy), Claudia (Sly), Daniel (Melodie), Joshua and Benjamin. Loving brothers Giuseppe and Vittorio along with caring nieces, nephews and extended family friends. Virginia was a wonderful person, an exceptional woman who gave with her heart and showered you with kindness and love. Vera , beloved wife of the late Vernon Asselstine for more than 78 years, passed away peacefully at age 99 on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, in Scarborough.She was the loved mother of Gerald, Alan (Mary Frey), Les (Marilyn Ryan), Doug (deceased), Donna (deceased), Floyd (Ruth Smitherman), Colin (Christine Freeman) and Teresa (Max Meer - deceased).Vera will be missed by her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Vera was born on April 1, 1920 in Quebec City. She grew up on a small farm near Napanee, Ontario.As an only child, she was very proud of the way she worked alongside her father helping with chores and caring for the animals.At Napanee High School she met Vernon’s sisters and one of them introduced Vera to Vernon.In 1939, she and Vernon married and went on to establish a home in Oshawa. While Vernon served during World War II, Vera managed their home and cared for their three boys.By the time they had four boys, they decided to move to their farm in Cartwright Township and continued to expand the family with two more boys and their daughter, Teresa. In later years they moved to a house in Port Perry and then to an apartment at the Port Perry Villa. In 2015, they moved to Altamont Care Community in Scarborough. The family of Vera Asselstine will receive friends at the Wagg Funeral Home, Port Perry, on Saturday, July 20th from 1 – 2 p.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Private interment in Erinsville, ON.If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Vera June Sutherland at Lakeridge Health - Bowmanville on July 6th, 2019.She had recently celebrated her 95th birthday.June was predeceased by her husband, Ross, her son Larry (May 2019) and her siblings Viola, Ruby, Alma and Fred.Loving mother of daughter Gail O’Donnell and son Lloyd.Sadly missed by her daughter-in-law, Pauline, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews.June will be fondly remembered for her years of devoted service to her church, leading church Bible studies, years of visitation at local nursing homes, as well her loving relationships with friends and extended family.Friends may visit at the Courtice Funeral Chapel, on Thursday July 11th from 6-8 p.m. as well as Friday July 12th at Carriage Country Baptist Church, 4830 Trulls Road, Courtice from 10:15 a.m. until time of celebration of June’s life at 11a.m. Interment, Thornton Cemetery.

Born September 20, 1953 in Croatia and resided in Oshawa/Courtice, Ontario for the last 35 years. Loving and devoted father of Steven Andjelic (Nicole) and Peter Andjelic.Proud Dida of Riley and Paige Andjelic. He will be greatly missed by Ljubica Vuletic and her family. Predeceased by his parents Marin and Nedjeljka Andelic and siblings Stipe and Jozo. He is survived by siblings Ivan, Ante, Miro, Katica, Mara and Matija. He will be missed by his godchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends both in Ontario, Canada and Croatia. A Memorial Gathering will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville, on Saturday July 6th from 2 – 5 pm.
