Maurizio Raffaelle Bonesso

Maurizio Raffaelle Bonesso

MAY 12, 1957 – FEBRUARY 5, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce that Maurizio (Morris) Bonesso, 66, passed away suddenly on a beautiful day while cross-country skiing outside of Magog, Quebec on Monday, February 5th, 2024.

He passed away peacefully while in nature — which he loved dearly.

Beloved husband and best friend of Michelle Bonesso for 26 years, Morris is survived by Michelle, his son Cameron, sisters Vonda (George Prystayko) and Nives (Paul Gleason), and brothers Oscar (Tina) and John.

He was the beloved brother-in-law of Ross Losier, Kim Korenycky (Roger Woolley), Andrew Losier (Kathy Campbell), and nieces Genna, Anna and Olivia, and nephews Jordan, John-Luke, Erik, and great-nephew Greyson.

Morris was born in Pezzan, Italy on May 12th, 1957; the oldest child of Costante and Rita Bonesso.

Morris graduated from both Conestoga and Sir Sandford Fleming College. He worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services in Alaska, Ontario Power Generation, and Atomic Energy Canada. A highlight of his career was spending two years overseas helping manage the construction of a CANDU nuclear reactor in Cernavoda, Romania.

After retirement, Morris spent his time being an avid angler, hockey player, and outdoorsman in addition to his numerous hobbies such as leathercraft, model making, and working on anything and everything that had a motor. He enjoyed endless adventures and travelling with Michelle.

He also focused on giving back to his community by running an annual summer camp program dedicated to teaching youth how to fish and the importance of wildlife conservation through BGC Durham.

Morris was awarded Her Late Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee Award for Volunteer Service in 2022 in recognition of this.

Memorial Visitation will be held on March 3, 2024 at 12:30 pm at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME , 847 King Street West, Oshawa, ON. Celebration of Life will be held on March 3, 2024 at 1:30 pm at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, ON. A reception will be held afterwards.

Morris’ ashes will be scattered along the Ganaraska River at a later time in a private event. In lieu of flowers or other gestures, the family requests that donations be made to BGC Durham (previously the Eastview Boys & Girls Club) — a community organization Morris wholeheartedly supported.

Donations can be made to BGC Durham’s general fund in memory of Morris by going to: https://www.bgcdurham.com/get-involved/donate/ .
