Born June 3, 1926 in Fort William, Ontario. She was a vibrant woman who could bring life to every room and a smile to every face. At a young age, Norma was a member of the Fort William Girls' Pipe Band as a bagpiper and a highland dancer. She met the love of her life, John (Mac) MacDonald of Port Arthur, on a blind date at an Air Cadet dance during high school. The newlyweds moved to Toronto to start their life together. Norma was a loving wife who was happily married to Mac for 64 years.Together they had 5 loving children: Glenn (Barbara), Karen (Gordon), Jamie (Helen), Ian (Cindy) and Greg (Brenda). She was an outstanding mother who set the bar high for those to follow. She was a proud and active grandmother who spoiled her 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild with as much candy as she did love. She loved her great big family more than anything.Norma taught us many things like: the walls aren't clean unless you vacuum them, Mac is always wrong unless he agrees with her, birthday cake is best served with money in it, and that family is the most precious gift in life.Norma has moved on from this world as she passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2015 due to heart complications. She went peacefully and painlessly onto a better place. We're sure she's looking down on all of us now, with a margarita in her hand, saying "holy doodle that was a great life!" She will be missed by many but forgotten by none as she was a truly wonderful woman. Norma is survived by her husband and five children, sisters Margaret (Ken) Sutton, Joan (Walter) Duczeminski, brothers Gordon (Ann) McKenzie, Murray (Bernice) McKenzie and nieces and nephews.Norma was predeceased by parents Alice and James McKenzie, sister Doreen (Jack) Crowe as well as brothers Roydon and Jim (Enid) McKenzie. She will be missed dearly by grandchildren: Andrew (Kate), Katie (Kyle), Alec (Katherine), Stefan, Carly, Christian, Nikolas, Lyndsey, Keira, Curtis, Cameron, Owen, Jacquelyn, Lauren and great-grandson Finn. Family and friends will gather at a later date in a celebration of life for Norma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norma's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.Condolences and memories may be made through wctownfuneralchapel.com.
