ARNTS, Trudy Arnts  -  On Thursday August 15th, 2024 we sadly lost a wonderful mother, grandmother (Oma), great grandmother (great Oma), sister, aunt and friend!

Trudy was pre-deceased by her husband Ted on May 31, 2024 after 64 years being married.

Trudy was born in the Netherlands December 12, 1938, the 7th of 11 children born to George and Gertruda Deriet. She was two months premature and weighed only two pounds.

Trudy (our mom) would tell us she fit inside a small shoebox. She is survived by three younger siblings, Nellie Vandenboom, Mary Irvine, and Charles Deriet.

In 1948, after World War II, the entire family moved to Canada. Trudy was only 9 years old at the time. Life wasn’t easy for the family. At first, they lived in western Canada before eventually settling in Whitby, Ontario.

It was in Whitby, Ontario where Trudy met Ted Arnts at a Dutch dance and soon after were married at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. They were married on October 29th, 1960. After almost 64 years of marriage, Ted went to
be with Jesus, his Lord and Saviour on May 31st 2024. We are sad to have lost them both this year, but we know they are reunited in heaven.

Loving wife of 64 years to Ted Arnts, Loving mother to Michael(Brenda)Arnts, Jodi(Steve)Payne, Lisa(Pete)Ford, Ted (Joanna) Arnts Loving grandmother to Brian, Chris(Ginessa), Samantha(Mike), Steven(Rachel), Brianna(Robert), Lindsay(Raihaan), Jake(Laura), and Kyran.

Loving great grandmother to Finley, Dylan, Audrey, Hailey, Logan, Hudson, Bennett and one more expected in September.

Trudy and Ted started Arnts Loam Supply in 1972 which has now expanded into Arnts the Landscape Supplier. While working in the business and at home, Trudy raised 4 children which she did with care and much prayer and was
always there for us. She was a mother who knew that children are a gift from God.

When we told her we loved her, she always said “Love you more” followed by “I am always praying for all my children and family.”
In the spirit of Trudy, please come dressed casual and bright and ready to have a good time!

There will be a celebration of life and burial Sept 7th 2024 times as listed below.

CAMPOS, John Campos  - Beloved John (João) Campos, 69, passed away on August 17th 2024, after a long illness.John was born on February 20, 1955 in the small gold mining village of Minas de Jales, Trás-os-Montes, Portugal.

He was born to Ana Augusta da Costa Chacatas de Campos and João Brito Fabião de Campos.

John also had an older brother, Luis de Campos, who predeceased him in 2012. John moved to Africa with his family to the city of Beira, Mozambique at the tender age of 4.

John met Madalena as a teenager in Mozambique, and upon returning to Portugal in the mid 1970’s together they had two children; Tiago and Joana.

In 1991, John moved to Canada, where he would eventually settle in the town of Whitby, Ontario. Over the next 30 plus years, John would study and work a variety of jobs and careers, always aiming to provide for and support his children, who moved to join him in Canada in 1993. His work included roofing, driving, trade-shows, graphic design, printing and the construction supply industry.

Throughout his life, John enjoyed spending time with friends, listening to music, reading philosophy, riding motorcycles, windsurfing, watching auto racing, among other things. He would speak often of how he missed the African sunsets of his youth.

Most of all, John treasured his children, their spouses Kelly and Kevin, and in the past 2 decades his grand children: Sofia (20), William (17), Isaiah (16), Grace (15), Julia (15), and Benjamin (8). He was happiest of all surrounded by family, sitting by the pool on a sunny day. John loved his nephews Luis and Ivo and his niece, Lara, and their extended families.

After pondering his beliefs most of his life, John proudly became a believer in Jesus Christ and was baptized in the summer of 2023, alongside his grandson, Isaiah. John developed an enviable dependence on God and forged strong connections and beautiful friendships with his church community.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elsie Muriel Myles, peacefully at the age of 90, on August 16th, 2024.  Elsie was born in Ethelbert, Manitoba, and was the daughter to Michael Bagan and Jean Caruk, who, with their Polish and Ukrainian roots, came to Ontario.

Elsie was the beloved wife, to the love of her life, the late husband, Norman McNeill Myles. Cherished mother to Brian, Cathy, and Gary.

Elsie loved her incredible brother Moe Bagan, who was a constant in her life. She greatly treasured her grandchildren Spencer, Rachel, Jack, and Christopher.

She also leaves behind her step-children Terence Myles (Debra), Danny Myles (Cathie), Wayne Myles (Michelle), and the late Lee Myles, along with step-grandchildren, Christian, Garrett, Kaitlyn (Marshall). Dear Auntie to Cheryl (Tim), Mason, and the late Dale. Auntie Elsie also to Craig, Dean (Lisa), Lisa (Bill) and Blair (Mieka).

Elsie was in control of the funds as a Budget Secretary at Albert Campbell C.I. in Scarborough. She took this position right to retirement, where she received the ring of the golden school bell, to celebrate her years of dedication. She then took up golfing, and joined the Toronto Ladies Club, where she had many great games, a hole in one,
and enjoyed lunch with her golf friends.

She loved knitting and many of us don her sweaters and scarves. She could knit, count, and watch TV, all at the same time. She just kept on knitting and there was always spare to give to someone who visited. Her specially knitted items will be missed by all, and her special cards that arrived in the mail, with that extra little something, along with
warm words.

Elsie will be remembered as a wonderful friend, with a strong mind, and an incredibly loving heart.  A special thanks to the entire staff at Sunrise for their everyday care and compassion towards Elsie. What incredible humans you are! Thank you to Andrene, who made such a fuss on her 90th birthday with a fabulous crown and sash. Sunrise staff, you all made her feel so welcomed in her new environment, and provided great care right to the end.

To her friends at Sunrise, Morag Krauff and Lolanda Selvati, she enjoyed your friendship so much.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, please make a donation, on behalf of Elsie, to Kingsview United Church.

She was 67 years old.

PUDLIS, Cecylia  -  It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest mother, Cecylia Pudlis (Zielinska) at the age of 96.

Predeceased by her loving husband Edward, Cecylia was born in Lomza, Poland, on February 26, 1928. Mother of Wanda (Roy) and John (Carol), beloved grandmother (Babcia) of Jennifer (Justin), Heather, Michelle, Aaron (Cheryl), Patrick (Vanessa) and Sean (Shaunna) and great-grandmother of Jonathan, Morgan, Brock, Kiersten, Camryn, Rylee, Anna, Jack and Cecelia.

Taken as a child by the Germans during WWII, Cecylia’s strength, resilience, and determination, helped to shape the person she would become, and kept her going until she eventually found freedom in an allied camp, where she met Edward.

Cecylia and Edward eventually married, and immigrated to Canada in 1949 in search of a better life for their family. Although it is impossible to summarize her entire story in this tribute, it’s important to acknowledge the long, arduous
journey she selflessly took to provide better lives for her children, and eventual grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Though the void created by her loss can never be filled, the love, kindness and helping hand she always provided to her family, will live on in our hearts forever.

We love you, Mom (Babcia), and we will never say goodbye. You can finally enjoy a tango with Dad (Dziadzia) and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

The family will be holding a private service.
