It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Eric on April 9, 2024.

Eric was incredibly strong, brave, and mature throughout his battle with cancer.

He overcame numerous hurdles and always had family and friends by his side.

He lived his 24 years, particularly the last 5.5 years, to the fullest despite the circumstances.

Eric was an avid sports fan; he loved attending Jays and hockey games.

During his childhood, he enthusiastically played baseball at the rep level until he left for Trent University, where he actively contributed to the growth of the Trent baseball team.

His interests extended to hockey, skiing, and golfing. He recently learned to surf as part of a cancer support group and cherished his time surfing in Santa Cruz. Despite battling cancer, Eric found joy in his parttime work at the Deer Creek Golf Course during the last three summers and umpiring for Whitby baseball.

He remained determined to complete his degree at Trent, demonstrating his resilience and commitment. Additionally, Eric had a passion for travel and seized every opportunity to explore new destinations.

Eric was a loving son and brought immense joy to his parents, Paul and Tracy. Although he was on the quieter side, Eric cherished his friendships and the time spent with his loved ones.

Eric will be dearly missed by his parents, Paul and Tracy, his Aunt Lynn Kaczmarczyk (George), Uncle Bruce Grisdale, Uncle Rob Gilmour (Shelley), and his cousins Ashley, Angelina, Cayla, Shane and Brittany and his extended family members.

Eleanor “Ellie” Singer

Eleanor “Ellie” Singer

Listed in

January 28, 1940 - March 21, 2024

Ellie passed peacefully at The Village of Taunton Mills in her comfy room surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Ellie was listening to her show tunes and 50’s favourites while hearing her loved ones laugh, cry and sing her praises.

Ellie lived with dementia during the last 6 years of her life, the last 3 years being in LTC.

Ellie was not one to dwell on the negative, she did not judge.

She’d rather spend her time laughing and loving her family and friends and watching the Leafs, the Jays and a good movie, preferably a Hollywood musical.

Ellie was born in Toronto to Kenneth and Bernadine. She grew up with her sisters: Carolyn, Nancy, Judy and Barb both in Toronto and Scarborough. Ellie was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, and aunt, but her favourite role of all was mother and Nana-Banana to: Valerie: Matt/Chantelle (Lauren & Mikey), Tess & Emily, Steven/Cheryl: Elora & Angus, Mark: Jarrett & Jessie, and Cheryl/Richie: Kendra & Harper. Her love, patience and readiness to help when needed knew no bounds.

Ellie enjoyed road trips, plane trips and train trips throughout her life. Her most memorable being: the Maritimes, Cape Cod, Florida, Moosonee and NYC.

Ellie loved going to the Coulson cottage for get togethers with her extended Coulson family. Ellie always hoped to make it to Norway, she might just still, as her family plan to visit there on her behalf.

Ellie worked for 25 years in nephrology research as a lab assistant for U of T at St. Mike’s under the direction of Dr. M. Halperin. Ellie was incredibly proud to work in this lab. Ellie shifted into retirement being a devoted caregiver to her beloved sister Judy, her tenacious mother Bern and her 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, whom she thought the world of.

Nana didn’t love anything more than laughing (which she did often) when hanging with her grandkids.

Ellie then became the one cared for and the family would like to recognize the exceptional care of the UHN where Ellie spent months during Covid.

She then transitioned into to the caring, loving and sincere team of the Dryden Unit at The Village. The family would also like to thank wonderful Geddes, who was Ellie’s constant source of comfort and companionship at The Village.

Ellie will be forever etched in our hearts and memories. Thank you for your unrelenting love and constant devotion.

You mean more than words to us.

A celebration of life will be held in the future, where we can fully pay homage to this wonderful woman.
