Passed away peacefully at University Hospital in London on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Born in Leamington on April 28, 1941, son of Hubert and Beatrice Cobbledick, William Arthur Cobbledick of Owen Sound, was in his 83rd year.
Beloved husband of the late Janet Cobbledick (nee Cole). Loving father of Shannon Delenardo and her husband Don of Keswick. Cherished grandpa to his “baby doll”, Melissa, of Keswick. Dear brother of Bob Cobbledick and his wife Donna of Grimsby, and Margaret Tamblyn and her wife Cecilia Coulas of Guelph. Dear brother-in-law of Wayne and Eileen Cole of Owen Sound, and Maizie and Mac Gamble of Chatsworth, and of Barb Cole of Owen Sound. Bill will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by his brother in laws Ernie and Barry Cole and sister-in-law Lynda Cole.
A special ‘thank you’ to everyone, the doctors and care givers, family and friends for the exceptional care given, support and compassion shown to Bill and his family as he fought his battle everyday up to the end.
A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with visitation two hours prior. Guests are encouraged to wear Bill’s favourite colour red, or your best cowboy boots. A reception will follow. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

Wilma Grace (nee Askin) Adams of Hanover, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Hanover & District Hospital on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She joins her husband George (2000) in heaven.
She is survived by children Grace Bell and Garry (T’resa) Adams, grandchildren William, Cory (Tina), AJ (Chad), Tori (Dylan), great grandchildren Dakota, Lily, Landon and Riley. Also survived by her sister Dorothy Blue of Owen Sound as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 4 sisters and 1 brother.
A private family graveside service will be held in the spring at Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara.

Born in Owen Sound, a son of the late Mert and Wilma (nee. Dickie) Pendleton. Jim passed away in Markdale on Tuesday February 13, 2024. Loving husband of the late Sandy (Pearcy) who predeceased him on November 4, 2023. Next to Sandy, his other big love was for his Brittany spaniel dogs and he will be greatly missed by his fur son Wild Bill.

Kathleen (nee Wyville) Smart passed away peacefully at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in her 87th year.
She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Smart who predeceased her in 2005.
Kathleen was the dear mother of Garry and his wife Sheila of Meaford. She was predeceased by son Larry in infancy.
She will be missed by her sister Ina (late Allen) Alexander and brother George (Pauline) Wyville, all of Meaford.
Kathleen will be remembered fondly by her sister-in-law Myrtle (late Clarence) Wiley of Meaford and was predeceased by sister-in-law Eleanor Becker.
She was a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Born in Euphrasia Township, the eldest child of Everett & Annie Wyville. She attended SS 18 Riverdale before starting her working career which included Steadmans, Meaford, Junior Footwear in Markdale, Hilltop Hotel, 20 years at Amerock, and Meaford Golf Club. In between she found time to pick apples at Lambe’s for many years. Kay was an extremely hard worker.
With the closing of the Amerock, Kathleen and her sister Ina started Georgian Bay Town & Country Catering. This became a family affair with Raymond and Allen helping out along with many other family members depending on the event.
She married Raymond Smart in 1958 and they started out married life on the Smart family farm near Harkaway before moving to Meaford in 1960. In 1966, they moved to the farm on Highway 26, where Kathleen lived until 2023 when her health no longer permitted her to be there alone.
Her son Garry, shared the love of farming with his parents and led them into breeding Limousin cattle, now being some of the longest Limousin breeders in Ontario. Kathleen would often speak of the cattle that she cared for and share her experience and knowledge. She loved the cattle and would often be seen with the men showing cattle at the local fairs. She spoke fondly of her favourite Australian Blue Healer Dog – ‘Silver’.
Church life was important to Kathleen and she was a very active member of the Meaford United Church, UCW the Busy Bees Unit. She was acknowledged as a life member of the UCW in 2004.
She was a loving and proud aunt to so many, spending lots of time following them through dancing, hockey, ball and music events. Her nieces and nephews were very important to her. In later years, she was a great fan of the Owen Sound Attack hockey team.
She and Raymond enjoyed times travelling and camping. They have crossed Canada and often enjoyed a warm holiday in the Southern US. A highlight, was the year she joined Ina and Tracy on a trip to Austria.
Kathleen had a love for baking which she continued to develop with her years catering. Her pies and especially butter tarts were always in demand and a special request of many.
Kathleen’s family extend their thanks to the staff of Meaford Long Term Care Centre who have shown such care and compassion to her while she resided there.
Family will receive friends for visitation at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 4 until 7 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the Meaford United Church on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 11 o’clock with visiting the hour prior to service.

Wally cared very deeply for his family. Bill Fitzsimmons passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, June 9, 2024 in his 82nd year. Born in Euphrasia Township on May 22, 1943, a son of the late Oliver and Hannah (nee Pooley) Fitzsimmons.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley Fitzsimmons (nee Gear) on December 1, 2009. He was also predeceased by his dear friend Ruth Jackson.
Bill was the adored father of Shirley Ann ‘Dolly’ Fulford (Greg Osburn), Nancy Breadner (John Brumpton), and was predeceased by John Breadner. He was the proud and supportive grandpa of Hannah Fulford (Spencer Wilson) and their daughter Avery, and Travis Fulford (Jessica) and their daughter Jolene. He will be remembered fondly by Greg’s children Sarah, Melissa, and Christine and their families. Bill was survived by his brothers John Fitzsimmons (Donna) and Gerald Fitzsimmons.
He was predeceased by his siblings Isobell Jamieson, Ida Almond, Alberta Freeborn, Dorothy Stewart, and will be remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Bill was born and raised in Euphrasia Township. He settled in 1975 with his wife Shirley on a farm on the 11th line. 66.66 acres on land that was part of the original 99.99-acre family farm. The name ShirWill Stables represents the love they shared. In 1976 Bill’s pride and joy Shirley Ann was born on Canada Day. Bill gave her the nickname Dolly because she was born prematurely. They worked side by side on the farm and with the horses. Bill and Dolly did everything together and could often be heard singing ‘Daddy’s Girl’ at 560 Radio Station or at dances.
Bill was very well known in the horse racing industry, racing ponies in Owen Sound and racing horses in Orangeville and Barrie. Every Saturday night he loaded up to race at Hanover Speedway. Bill recently recalled that some of his favourite memories with his horses were with Speedy Hedge Wood, Highland Baby, and ShirWill Ego. He was a proud trainer, driver and owner in the horse racing industry.
Bill was a strong, outstanding man who enjoyed a night around the table with his closest friends, family and his guitar. He never shied away from joining the band on a night out. He would often sing for the crowd.
Bill had many skills and talents; plumbing, construction, Beaver Valley Ski Club, eventually working his way up to a management position. He also tackled odd jobs, all while owning and operating ShirWill Stables with his wife Shirley. He looked forward to getting away camping at Scone Campground.
Bill cherished his time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He loved bringing his famous homemade bread and apple pies to our family dinners.
Bill’s family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. A service will be held at the Ferguson Funeral Home on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11 a.m., with interment to follow at the Markdale Cemetery.

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of William (Bill) David Mairs on June 2, 2024.
Bill was the beloved husband of Donna Mairs (nee Cowle) for 51 years and a loving father to his daughters Jennifer and Amanda (Warren), who treasured him in return.
He was “Papa” to his cherished grandsons Tyler (Kensey) and Brandon (Erin) and great-grandchildren Hannah, Blake and Jade, whom he loved and adored.
He is survived by his mother Joan Mairs (nee Gibner) and sisters Marg Smith and Kim (Albert) Mairs. Loving nephew of Bruce Mairs in Nova Scotia.
Loved son-in-law to Ruth Cowle (nee Adams). Dear brother-in-law to Steve Millson, Donnie (Karen) Cowle, and Kenny (Sharon) Cowle.
He will be remembered as “Uncle Bill” to many nieces and nephews. Bill is predeceased by his father David Mairs, sister Heather Kanters, father-in-law Don Cowle, brother-in-law Bruce Smith, and sister-in-law Cindy Millson.
Bill was Born on January 20, 1954, at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville and was raised in the family farmhouse on the outskirts of town.
He was a dedicated employee at General Motors Oshawa Assembly for 35 years, in both the North and South plants, where he took pride in his many jobs and the valued friendships he made along the way.
During his brave and determined 2-year battle with cancer, every hurdle and challenge he faced with his health, his goal was always to get back home to his family, recliner, and Corvette.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the nurses and doctors at Lakeridge Health Cancer Centre, EMS/doctors and nurses at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville and his home care team, who all provided exceptional care for him alongside his family. A private family service will take place at a later date.
