WILSON, Gavin Guy  -
2-Nov-1948 - 10-Aug-2024

It is with deep sadness that the family of Gavin Arneil Wilson (Guy) of Oshawa, Ontario in his 75th year left us for his heavenly home on August 10, 2024 after a lengthy battle of Lewy Body Dementia.

Guy was born in Oshawa on Nov 2, 1948 to the late John Wilson & Edna (Fisher).

Guy was a man of great faith, checking off his list of answered prayer, he was the quiet silent type with a dry sense of humour, a die-hard leaf fan, enjoyed donating to his pro line ticket fund, watched John Wayne movies & loved his Tim Hortons double cream coffee. He worked for Sklar-Peppler & Rockbrune Brothers. Oh, the stories he would tell of the adventures days on the road moving.

Guy’s nick name was The Rock’ due to his amazing strength. He was always the first to be volunteered to help moving his family & friends.

Guy will be loving remembered by his wife Marion. ‘Guy, it ain’t over till it’s over, see ya on the other side!’

He is survived by his stepdaughter Sheryl Altvater, stepson David Stokes; grandson Dakota Stokes and great grandson Xavier Rose Baker; sister-in-law Lorraine Reznak (Joe), brother-in-law Archie Langille, sisters Heather Rozon and Donna Wilson and brothers Jim and Doug (Linda). He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews.

He is pre-deceased by his brothers Robert, Allan, John, and Arthur; sisters Jean, Jacqueline, and Faith; sister-in-law Ruth Langille, mother-in-law Ida LeBlanc, father-in-law Leo LeBlanc, son-in-law Wally Altvater and grandson Bradley Baker.

Many thanks go out for the excellent care by Dr. Kwok, Administration staff, Nurses, and PSW’s at Streamway Villa in Cobourg, Ontario where Gavin resided since October 2020. Rumour has it that he was totally a ladies man & quite the dancer.

A Celebration of Life will take place at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY on Monday, August 19 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. with the reception being held in the lounge.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or Parkinson’s Society would be appreciated by the family.

EVANS, Ann Elizabeth (nee White) Evans -
1932-2024

Passed away unexpectedly from complications of stroke at Lakeridge Hospital, Oshawa on August 7, 2024, having just celebrated her 92nd birthday.

Beloved sister (Mary Davie/Ray), aunt (Melissa Davie/Steve Cyrille; Pam Davie), great aunt (Tash and Sam Cyrille), honorary grandmother (Patrick/Elizabeth and Amanda Fry) and loyal friend.

Ann is described as a special lady by all, cherished for her generous and lively spirit and good humour.

She was lucky to enjoy good health and embraced life fully, living independently, driving, and visiting with friends and family up until her final birthday in June.

Born in England, she moved with her mother, Gladys and sister to Dundee Scotland when her father, John, was serving in the navy in WWII, where they remained. After college, she Married her high school sweetheart, Bob Tait, and started her teaching career, working with children from Dundee’s low-income tenements.

Ann enjoyed travel and moved countries over the years. She and Bob moved to Canada in 1959 where they were the center of lively gatherings at their home in Pickering. Ann loved horse riding and also became a small aircraft pilot. Her first marriage ended, and she remarried (John Evans) and returned to England, later moving to Portugal. They made a final
move back to Canada in 1982 where she lived the rest of her life on Lake Scugog and in Oshawa.

Ann chose a career change mid life and took up full time sales, becoming one of the top Avon and Weekenders salespeople in Canada, making many lifelong friends along the way.

Above all, Ann adored her dogs, Dandy and Patch (both deceased), the latter whom she rescued from the streets in Portugal.

Ann returned to Scotland and Wales almost annually, driving her stepmother Kathy on photography trips through the Scottish Highlands and visiting friends and cousins Elaine and Khan and children in Wales. She later joined a Scottish dance group in Little Britain, Ontario and loved travelling with them to Scotland and also several trips away with friends.
She delighted in her annual week away with close friends in Collingwood.

Ann will be remembered for living life to its fullest, for her sense of fun and how to age with spirit and enthusiasm. She was a great and loyal friend, and many have expressed the large gap she leaves in their lives. She never forgot birthdays and her Christmas card list was long.

She will be so missed by her family in Canada and the UK and many friends.

There will be a private internment, and a celebration of life will be held in early fall (details will be shared on this page once date and location confirmed).

Should you wish to make a donation in Ann’s name, please kindly contribute to the Durham Humane Society: hsdr.org or PAWS at pawscanda.ca .
