March 27th, 1931- March 11th, 2024.

Brenda passed away peacefully on a beautiful sunny morning, Monday March 11th, surrounded by love.

Her life was one full of colour both through her experiences and the art she lovingly created.

Born in England she enjoyed her early life in the countryside where she spent time with her beloved pony, Mack.

As a young girl she attended Saint Felix School in Suffolk before going on to the Clarendon School for Girls and then later to the Norwich School of the Arts where she developed her artistic craft.

Bill (William) Alan Griner

Bill (William) Alan Griner

Listed in

April 15, 1935 - February 24, 2024

The Griner family are saddened to announce the passing of Bill (William) Alan Griner. Son of the late William Alfred Griner and Edythe Ruth nee Pallister.

Beloved husband to Helen Marie Nee Pearson and greatest Dad to John and Helena.

Loving Grandad to Chloe and Ivy. Fond brother of Audree Wilson and uncle to Pat, Nancy, Susan, Carol and Bill.

Bill grew up in Calgary until his family moved to Toronto in 1952. Sad to leave his friends, Bill completed high school and followed in his fathers footsteps into the high end men’s clothing business.

He was an entrepreneur and creative business man, opening stores of his own and he often discussed business strategies and solutions with his friends.

Regarded as a true gentleman with a memorable smile, Bill was a man a few words; but these words came with much wisdom and love.

He was known for his impressive Donald Duck impression, sense of humour and his story telling ability. Famously known for the story of he and his father canoeing on Lake Moraine, where they encountered a feeding moose.

As the moose raised its massive head above Bill’s father, soaked with water from the reeds hanging off its impressive antlers, he quietly stuttered, B,b,b,b, back paddle.. b, b, b, back paddle!

Bill enjoyed attending Argo games with his two closest friends and Blue Jays games with his family, for many years. He developed a love for golf, both playing and watching.

He especially treasured the time spent on the Green, with his dearest wife Helen, always aiming for that hole in one.

Bill was tremendously loved and will be sorrowfully missed by many. We love you Dad and know you are at peace and smiling again, being reunited with Mum. Forever in our hearts.

Interment to be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life to be decided at a later date.

Berenice Winnifred Murray

Berenice Winnifred Murray

Listed in

90, of Whitby, passed away on February 17th, 2024 from natural causes.

Berenice was born on February 26, 1933 to Douglas and Winnifred Bruce in Toronto.

When she was 13 the family moved to Kingston, Ontario where she finished high school at KCVI and began a career in banking as a teller.

It was there she met the man who used to shoot elastics at her legs for attention, which he got when she and William John Murray were married on October 11, 1952 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian in Kingston.

In 1955, Bernice and Bill moved to East York, Ontario and went on to have a daughter, Dianne Elizabeth.

These are the facts of moms life, but they hardly capture that life in its entirety. It is a struggle to know what to say about our parents in moments like these for we are only ever given glimpses into their lives and we always do so from the perspective of having been their children.

It is in the spirit of celebrating all of my mother’s life, then, that I look forward to yet more memories, more stories, and more glimpses into the whole of Bernice’s life that we invite you to share at the link below.

Berenice was predeceased by her husband William (2004), brother Robert Bruce (1980), and is survived by her daughter Dianne Gignac, grandson Richard Gignac, great granddaughter Nathalie, nieces Elizabeth Campbell, Mary Catherine Mills, LaurieAnn Murray and nephews Jim Murray and David Mills.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Humane Society of Durham Region, because mom always loved animals.
