Passed peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023 at St. Michael’s Hospital in her 90th year.
Predeceased by her husband of 52 years Klemens Denzel.
Loving Mother of Michele (Maurizio Milan) and Susan (Robert Weersink).
Oma was remembered fondly by her grandchildren Sebastian, Jasmine, Madrigal and Maximillian.
Sister to Maria, Gerhardt, Rosa, Elfriede and Erika. Else will be greatly missed by her dear friend Lotte (Franz) and family.
Else was born on December 1, 1933 in Laichingen, Germany.
She followed her sister to Canada in 1963. Else met her future husband on her first day in Canada and they were married on December 26, 1964. Else enjoyed summers at the cottage, travelling and being part of the Loreley Singers.
Among her many hobbies she enjoyed long walks, sewing, knitting and baking.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Rd. Whitby on Sunday, May 28th at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Plan International.

Passed away at Hillsdale Terraces Oshawa on Friday May 19th, 2023 at the age of 95.
Much loved mother of Linda Watson and her husband Calvin of Whitby and Brenda LaBrash (late George) of St. Catharines.
Grandmother of Richelle and her fiancé Gordon Eagle and Carl LaBrash and his wife Brigette.
Great Grandmother of 3.
Predeceased by her sister Evelyn and her brother James.
Ethel will be fondly remembered by her extended family and dearest friends.

Ethel will be laid to rest with her parents and brother at Elmwood Cemetery Corbyville.

Earl Colby Pottinger
Passed away suddenly on Friday, May 5th, 2023 at Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa at the age of 66.
Dear brother of Paul (Annette), Clive (Martie) and Ian.
Proud uncle of Jason (Elizabeth), Matthew (Laney), Nicole and Katherine.
Cherished friend of Leonie Morrison, Sonya Feddema, Richard and Kim Black.
He is predeceased by his parents Earl and Modge Pottinger. Earl will be missed by extended family and friends from near and far.
He was a devoted member of the Hillsdale Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Oshawa and an admirer of Cherry Blossoms. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 15th, 2023 from 11: 00a.m to 1: 00p.m at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrad Road in Whitby, ON, with a service to follow in the Chapel at 1:00p.m.

Ernest Devenyl
October 17, 1939 – May 3, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Ernie Devenyi announces his passing on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
He passed away at home with his treasured family by his side.
After 2 years of battling cancer, it was time for him to join Lorna. Ernest Louis Devenyi was born in Budapest, Hungary and one of four children to Augustine and Janka Devenyi.
He escaped Communist Hungary with his brother Gus in 1957 and made his way to Toronto, Canada.
He married Ruby Pawley and had two children, David and Susan. Ruby died of Cancer in 1964 and he was left a widower.
In 1966 Ernie met Lorna Burlock (nee O’Brien) who was also a widow with three children, Stephen, Holly, and Reg.
They married, and had the sixth child, Brian to complete their “Yours, Mine & Ours”.
Ernie was employed by Simpson’s for 35 years starting out as a non-English speaking maintenance worker to eventually Managing their distribution warehouse in Scarborough.
Simpson’s was purchased by The Bay and he was retired at 52 years of age. Ernie was a very accomplished musician.
His lust for music was initiated by his relation to Anton Dvorak, the famous composer. He played the Trombone and was a member of many orchestras and bands over the years. When he passed he was a member of New Horizons, Swing Band,
The Durham Chamber and regarded his fellow musicians as treasured friends. Ernie was renowned for his impeccable cleanliness, organization skills, time keeping, budgeting skills, and his whistling. His many life accomplishments included raising a big family, climbing the corporate ladder, many musicals at the Unionville Theatre, and outsmarting the squirrels in his backyard.
He was an incredible, committed husband who dedicated his life to providing love and support to his partners. His love for Lorna was fierce. She appreciated and adored him for his care of her. He was a very hard-working man who loved his children equally.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Ernie was father to six children, Stephen (deceased), Holly (Perry), Reg (deceased), David (deceased) (Alison), Susan (Glen), and Brian (Jacquie). He was PAPA to 11 grandchildren, Jonathan, Adam, Eric, Korri, Stephen, Tyler, Krista, Rachael, Mitchell, Emma and Mackenzie.
He was also Great Grandfather to Brooke, James and Cole. Ernie was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, William & Augustine and leaves Gabor as his only surviving brother.
He also leaves his cherished nephew Zsolt. To our family medical team, Brian & Jacquie for their unequivocal, loving support and gentle handling of Ernie’s departure.
You made it the best departure that it could be. A very sincere thank you to Susan & Glen for keeping Dad in your bubble for the last two years. Your care and handling of his illness and his life will be forever appreciated by all of the family. You were his light in a very dark and troubled time.
Finally, to Ernie’s neighbours and to Lisa Yasny Comeau for your loving care of our Dad. Thank you!!

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ellen, who passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on April 29, 2023 in her 100th year.
Predeceased by her beloved husband James Stevenson (1998).
Loving mother of Susan Taylor, Deb Stevenson, Darlene Spiers (John), late Marilyn Ball (Dave) and late Carol Gammon (Jim). Cherished grandmother of Donna, Michelle, Jeff, Barb, Bob, Doug, Tom, Joe, Nancy, Ryan, Andrea & Devon and many great & great great grandchildren. Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Rose Ince, and was sister of late Irene Scott (Percy) and late Harold Ince (Della).
She was a loved Aunt to many nieces and nephews and a very dear friend to Gordon Grills.
Ellen will be forever remembered for her humour, her spontaneity, her resilience, her steadfast love of life and family. Her journey started with marrying Jim the love of her life, before seeing him off to WWII while she stayed back to work in the munition’s factory, later retiring after a long tenure with OHIP.
Life proved to have its challenges but her strength always shone through, you’d always catch her joyfully tapping her foot, she loved music. Family and friend’s gatherings defined her, she touched the hearts of many.
The family wish to express their gratitude to Hillsdale Terraces and Lakeridge Health Oshawa Acute Care Zone 3 for care, compassion and professionalism shown to Ellen and family.
A private service for the family will take place at THORNTON CEMETERY and FUNERAL CENTRE, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, (South of Taunton Road and off of Dryden Blvd, 905-579-6787) visitation at 1 pm followed by funeral service at 2pm.
Donations will be gratefully accepted for The Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation or Diabetes Canada.

Edward “Ed” Warren

Ed passed away suddenly at Markham Stouffville Hospital on Wednesday April 19, 2023.
He is lovingly remembered by his partner Jane Butler and family.
He was brother to Doug Warren (late Sophie), the late Bill Warren (late Jean), Pat Aleong (late Geoff), Helen Riley (late Harold), the late Mary Darling (late Ray), the late Anne Warren, and fond uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was father to Rebecca and Jeremiah Warren.
Born and raised in Oshawa to the late Helena and Charles Warren, Ed moved to Uxbridge in the final three years of his life. A gifted artist, he loved camping, canoeing, and travelling, and his sense of humour was infectious.
According to Ed’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family Celebration of Life will be held in Uxbridge.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to Oak Valley Health either Uxbridge Hospital or Markham-Stouffville Hospital.
