Sue passed away in Uxbridge, ON following a defiant three-year confrontation with vascular dementia.
Born in Vancouver, BC, to Maj. John Guy and Suey Mary (nee Somers) Henderson, Sue spent her childhood exploring Stanley Park and every public library she could find.
After moving to Toronto, she married L. Col. John T. Williams, her best friend of 45 years, who predeceased her in 2001.
Sue was a lifelong volunteer, serving, among other groups, the ACW at Christ Church Deer Park in Toronto, where she helped needlepoint the Benedicite Kneelers.
As National President of IODE, she had the opportunity to travel Canada's North overseeing many projects supporting Indigenous children.
After retiring to Victoria, BC, she redirected her energy to Newcomers and to St. Paul's church in Esquimalt, where she served as a warden, gardener and avid member of the craft group.
Sue is remembered for her dry wit, quick intellect and immense creativity.
Though she never considered herself an artist, the thousands of stunning greeting cards, paintings, sweaters, needlepoints and woven baskets that survive her suggest otherwise.
She is fondly remembered by her children Elizabeth (Jonathan) and Guy, along with her grandsons Simon, Benjamin, Gavin and Hunter.
She is missed by her great granddaughter, Lillian, and dear friends Molly, Jean and Marilyn. Cremation has taken place.
Celebrations of Life will be held next Spring in Toronto and Victoria.
In memoriam donations may be made in support of Sue's love of cats and public libraries.
Special thanks to the staff at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.
