Peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday May 17th, 2023, at the age of 72.
Beloved wife of Jozeph (52 years).
Loving mother of Frank, and the late Irene.
Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her dear friends, and family throughout Canada and Slovenia.
Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home 1289 Keith Ross Drive in Oshawa on Tuesday May 23rd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday May 24th at 11:00am. Interment will follow.

Beverly “Bev” Johnston
Of Grafton, Ontario passed away on May 16th, 2023 at Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering Hospital after a short bout with pneumonia, he was 85 years old.
Bev was well known in the construction industry as he had worked his way up from a young age.
Altogether Bev spent over 50 years working in and loving construction.
Through his work, Bev traveled throughout Ontario and made many connections and friends. In his off time, Bev enjoyed fishing, was an avid Leafs fan and loved taking long car rides. Above all Bev was a family man, he was proud of his family and loved spending time with them. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol and his parents Tom and Iva.
Bev is survived by his siblings, Marilyn, Marg, Ivan and Larry, his children Joe (Tracy), Linda (Ken), Sharon (Rob), Kevin (Bonnie) and Michelle (Lou); his grandchildren Brooklyn, Logan, Zachary, Trent, Connor, Emily, Mackenzie, Allison, Joshua, Victoria and Elizabeth and his great grandchildren Derek, Aubrey, Riviera, Winter and Keegan as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Saturday May 27th from 11:30 – 1:30, Funeral Service will follow at 1:30 with Reverend Noel Gordon officiating. Light refreshments will be served upon completion of the service.
Memorial Donations may be made to Community Care Durham – Clarington Branch or the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff of Fairview Lodge (especially Whitby Junction) for their loving care and to the staff of the Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering Emergency Department on Bev’s final days.
Bruce Barker
Bruce passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on May 11, 2023 at the age of 83.
Loving husband of Jane - Cherished father of Carolyn (Steve), Cathy (Dario), and Robert (James) as well as being an adored grandfather of Danny, Vivian, Marco and Ivano.
Bruce will also be missed by his many friends and neighbours.
He will be forever remembered by his close “Waldo” golfing buddies.
The family wish to express their gratitude to the hospital staff for their professionalism shown to Bruce and his family, and the compassionate care shown by Dr. Allan Yan.

Blake “Blakie” Coulas passed away at home in Oshawa on May 7, 2023.
His happy place was riding snow mobiles and four wheelers with his Dad and Mom.
Deeply loved, cherished and adored by his mother Tina Park and predeceased by his loving father Dennis (2021).
Sadly missed by his brothers Ethan and his wife Ke, and Josh and his wife Stephanie.

Betty C. Sacchett
July 27, 1937 - May 4, 2023
After a lengthy struggle with crippling Alzheimer’s Disease, Betty passed peacefully to reunite with her beloved husband, Larry, in heaven.
She will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her, but especially by her 3 devoted daughters Theresa Fergusson (Gord), Doreen Sacchett (Andy Bezubiak) and Linda Sacchett (Frank Langlois), her loving grandchildren Elyse Fergusson (Travis Coots), Dana Barbosa (Jose), Meagan Sacchett and Daniel Sacchett, her cherished great-grandchildren Addison, Maxwell and Theodore, and her dear sisters, brothers, sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was born in Malta but left in 1955 to start a new adventure in Canada.
It was on that voyage that she met Larry, her adoring husband of 64 years, who was immediately drawn to her happy, positive nature and contagious love of life!
Betty loved every minute of her career working as a health care aide at St. Michael’s Hospital, Whitby Psychiatric Hospital and Fairview Lodge, and her time in retail working as a Fashion Coordinator for Woolco Department Store. After retirement, she continued helping others as a volunteer at Fairview Lodge entertaining the residents with her beautiful voice and vivacious personality.
Betty always liked keeping busy and enjoyed many passions during her lifetime including joyfully singing with the Whitby Jubilee Choir, the Holy Family Parish Choir, the Sacred Music Society, and the GM Choir. As a past member of the Malta Social Club, she helped organize countless dances and cultural events. Betty was also an avid gardener who amassed an impressive amount of knowledge about flowers and plants of all kinds and who was well-known for her spectacular gardens. She was always happy to share her gardening knowledge and plant cuttings with anyone who asked. Betty’s creative talents also extended to sewing costumes for Halloween, school plays and choir performances, and cooking for her family and friends - especially Maltese treats such as figoli and pastizzi.
Betty possessed unwavering love for all her family and was happiest when surrounded by them. Her kind-hearted, generous spirit and incredible sense of humour will be missed by so many. Betty’s beautiful light will continue to burn brightly in heaven and in all of our hearts.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses on G-Wing and on the palliative care floor of Lakeridge Health Oshawa who were so kind and provided great comfort to Betty and her family, and to the amazing PSWs who provided Betty with such good care and companionship over the past year that she considered them friends more than caregivers.
Visitation will be held at W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL (110 Dundas Street East, Whitby) on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 2pm-4pm and from 6pm-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish (91 Ribblesdale Drive, Whitby) on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 10:30am. Reception to follow in the parish hall.

Berid Linnea Nikulainen
Passed away on April 20th, 2023 at the age of 89.
Daughter of the late Hilda and Abel Nikulainen.
Known as the “girl on the run”, she had a fervent zeal to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ not only here but on her frequent trips to Finland and Estonia.
Her career as a public school teacher with the Durham Board of Education ended in 1988.
She also served with the Red Cross and Community Care for may years as well as the Salvation Army during the Christmas season.
She leaves behind many relatives and friends in Finland.
