On February 7th, 2023, Linda passed away peacefully in her favourite chair surrounded by family just as she wanted at the age of 72 years.

Of course she had it her way until the end.

Our mom spent the last 22 years missing the absolute love of her life, Michael Bass, and we are thrilled that they are reunited again.

Loving and "lucky" mother of Tracy Black, Corinne Hunter, Mary Bass, and actually liked and loved mother-in-law of Jim Black, Christopher Hunter and Michael Hoeg.

Declared worlds best Nana by Sarah Burnham (1987-2003), Jeffrey Burnham (Cheyenne), Lindsay Boudreau (Devin), Jacob Bass, Chelsey Webb (Josh), Allison Black (Nolan), Veronica Bass (Andrew), Kaitlyn Cordery (Evan), Lucas Hoeg, and proud GG to Evangeline and Zane.

Cherished sister to Gerald Lonsway.

Predeceased by her parents Esmel and Rena Lonsway. Will be especially missed by her life long friend Ev Pell and all her family and friends. Special thank you to her incredible PSW Valerie and to Jackie for all the added support that helped us keep her home.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at BROOKLIN COMMUNITY CENTRE (45 CASSELS RD. EAST, BROOKLIN) on Saturday February 11th, 2023. Family will be receiving friends and family at 12:00 Noon, time of service and tributes shared at 1:00 pm, followed by triangle sandwiches and refreshments while visiting and reminiscing with until 4:00 pm.

Passed away peacefully with family by her side at Hillsdale Estates on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in her 97th year.

Dearly beloved wife of the late Jack Finley, loving mother of Ron (Lilly), Barb Zmozynski (Stan), Kathy Forte (Vince), John (Mira), Lois Kirkpatrick (Bill) and Ken (Dawn).

Cherished grandmother and great grandmother to many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survived by her siblings Jane Wilby (late Tom), Edward Hickey (late Mary), Joan Hickey (late Bob) and predeceased by Bill Hickey (late Jean) and Fran Hickey (late Mary).

She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. If you knew Lorna, you were one of the lucky ones.

She was kind, generous, good natured and always there for the people around her. An active member in the community, she spent her time as a teacher with the Durham District Catholic School Board and on the St. Mary's of the People Parish Catholic Women's League.

Her greatest joy in life was being with her husband and family at home and in Bobcaygeon at the cottage enjoying the sights and sounds of Pigeon Lake. She was also a cards enthusiast and loved playing a good game of euchre with friends.

We would also like to thank the staff at Hillsdale Estates (Primrose Path) for the wonderful care that they gave our mom. Their kindness and compassion towards mom will never be forgotten.

The visitation for Lorna will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, February 2 from 4 – 8 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARY OF THE PEOPLE PARISH, 570 Marion Avenue, Oshawa on Friday, February 3 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at the Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or Denise House.

Les died peacefully on 9th January at Centenary Hospital, in his 95th year following a fall.

He was the husband of the late Doris for over 60 years and is survived by his nephew Paul Filmer.

Les was very active in tennis at Heron Park and Curran Hall clubs for many years and received many awards.

He will be sorely missed.

With her daughters by her side, Linda passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on January 3rd, 2023 at the age of 78 years.

Beloved wife of Jim Cochrane.

Much loved mother of Kendra Lachine (Denis Savoie) and Robyn Lachine (Mark Duggan) and step-mother of Brian Lawrence. Adoring grandma of Edward, Quinn, Cian and Isla.

Linda will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Judie Al-Rawass, Mike Potter, Jill Weiss, Kim Potter, Donnie Potter, Terry Potter and Betty Jane Magnusson.

She was predeceased by her parents Douglas “Duke” & Beatrice “Bett” Potter and siblings Doug Potter, Biff Potter, Larry Potter and Nick Potter. Dear sister in law to Ian Cochrane, Marty Cochrane, Teal Cochrane and Richard Cochrane. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces & nephews and friends.

Linda was a long time elementary school teacher, shaping countless lives with her influence.

She was a wonderful mother and adoring grandma. Upon moving to Bowmanville she & Jim were very involved at the Bowmanville Older Adults Association, where they enjoyed many activities.

The family wish to thank the incredible support they have received over the last few years during Linda’s illness, the care Linda received was much appreciated.

Special nods of gratitude to Brenda Paker and May Ruth Gajdan for easing the final years for Linda.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Linda’s life will be held at a later date.

1930 - 2022 Born in Weston, Ontario, on July 11, 1930, Lorne Frederick Bird passed away peacefully at Scarborough General Hospital on December 30, 2022.

The longtime resident of Toronto was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy Ann Bird, in 2014, his parents Joseph and Jeannie Bird, and his brother, Robert (Barbara).

Dedicated father to Lorri (Richard), Greg (Connie), Arlene (Jim), Jeff, Jenny (Kevin), and Larry (Melinda).

Proud Papa to Brandon (Candace), Brittni, Caitlin (James), Alex, Maddie, Victoria, Callum, Ryan, Brooke, and Sienna; Great-papa to Kingston, Miller, and Everley.

Remembered well by numerous nephews, nieces, neighbors, and friends.

Lorne was a civil engineer by trade who installed water treatment plants across the province. He was an avid golfer who loved the game on the course and on tv.

Lorne was an ardent fan of the Montreal Canadiens and enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue Jays. Enjoying the family cottage in Bolsover, holiday cruises with "Bones," big family gatherings at Feagan Drive, and "routine" workouts added immensely to Lorne's lifetime of happiness and physical fitness.

Funeral Service will be held at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME in Brooklin, Ontario on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 11:00 am. The Bird Family invites attendees to a post-funeral reception at Barnes. Interment will take place following the reception at Holy Cross Cemetery in Thornhill.

On December 30, 2022 Lydia Margarete Miller passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 84.

Lydia was born April 12, 1938 at Six Nations of the Grand River in Oshweken, Ontario to parents George and Agnes Miller. She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Lloyd, who was the love of her life.

Lydia was a loving mother to her baby girl Desirée, loving Grandmother to Paul (Tina), Michelle (David), Great Grandmother to Alison, Emmett, Maddilyn, Mya & Elijah.

Lydia's beloved three boys Harvey, Robert and John John (predeceased) held a special place in her heart. Lydia will be sadly missed by her first Granddaughter Sarah in addition to many Great GrandChildren and by her eldest daughter Deborah (Predeceased Ken) and their children, Rebecca and Cody.

Predeceased by her adoring sisters Luda Longboat and Marilyn Bellmore. Not enough could be said about her love for her nieces of Six Nations of the Grand River as Lydia fondly referred to as "the girls". Lydia's feisty energy and strength will be missed by so many other family and friends.

A Traditional Indigenous Ceremony will be held on Six Nations of the Grand River at a later date where she + John John will be laid to rest with her Beloved sisters. As mom always said, "I'll be walking in the sunshine with John." and it brings the family great comfort to know that's where she is now.

A service will be held on Thursday January 5th, 2023 at McEachnie Funeral Home (28 Old Kingston Rd., Ajax Ontario, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Leo passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home on December 28, 2022.

Beloved husband of Patricia and cherished father of Michael (Larissa Jackson), Donna Annette (Stephen), and Teresa Ezquerra (Mauro Leonardo).

Predeceased by his parents Bernard and Ellen (Doyle), his sisters Mary and Ellen, and brother Brendan. He is survived by his grandchildren Riley, Alexander, Devin, Emma, Aaron, and Anna along with a wide network of nieces and nephews throughout Canada and Ireland.

Leo grew up in the small town of Gilford, County Down in the North of Ireland with 10 brothers and sisters.

While we are devastated by his loss we will honour his memory by trying to emulate his zest for life, his sense of humour, his integrity, his kindness, and the charming, mischievous glint he had in his eye his whole life.
