Died peacefully on the 20th of January after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by friends and family, aged 51.
She is survived by her loving husband, Brendan, children Joshua, Matthew, Fiona, and Claire, as well as siblings, Brent, Bonnie, and Blake, and beloved nephews Cole, Eli, Case, Ashton and Mason.
Predeceased by her parents Melvin and Marguerite (née Emard).
Brenda was born in Montreal and raised in Oshawa. From birth, Brenda was independent, fiercely loyal, gregarious, and enthusiastic, traits which helped her excel in countless sports as a youth and throughout her highly distinguished career as a nurse.
Nursing gave Brenda the opportunity to do what she did best – caring for others and lifting their spirits through both word and deed. She touched countless lives during her career, made life-long friends of many of her co-workers and gave everything she could of herself to thousands of patients.
Brenda was self-deprecating to a fault, but her laughter and boundless energy made her the beating heart of any gathering.
She worked tirelessly throughout her career constantly going above and beyond to be a voice and advocate to our most vulnerable population right up until her diagnosis.
Brenda had many caring friends helping her and her family throughout these past months including Deb, Jill, and Gorete, with a special acknowledgement to Jen, who accompanied Brenda to many of her appointments and was a strong advocate for her throughout.
She touched so many lives and has been a part of so many stories.
Please join us to celebrate the life of Brenda. Visitation at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby from 2:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday, January 22, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held in the Barnes Chapel Monday afternoon at 12:00 pm.
