Passed away peacefully at the Lakeridge Health – Oshawa on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023 at the age of 84 years.
Predeceased by his dearly beloved wife Eileen (nee Azevedo). Loving father of Susan (Don).
Survived by his siblings, Monica Crum-Ewing (late Michael), Terry Ellis (Peter), Thelma Wong (Leslie) and Carlos (Cheryl).
Predeceased by his parents Carlos and Agnes Nascimento.
Missed by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Bernie will be remembered as a truly wonderful, peaceful, giving and caring man.
Visitation will be held at COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL , 1587 Highway #2, Courtice (905-432-8484) on Monday, January 23rd, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 24th, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 25th from 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery.

Unexpectedly, at his home with his wife by his side on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at age 76.
Brian Bassett, beloved husband of Jane (nee Browning) for 53 years.
Loving father of Sandy Bassett and Michael Bassett and his wife Meaghan.
Loving grandfather of Raven, Ellie and Ivy. Dear brother of Barry Bassett and Robert Bassett and his wife Jean. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends.
Brian was a very active member of the Cannington community always striving to make it a better place.
He volunteered with a number of organizations within the community. He was a man who wore many hats so to speak in his working career as an electrician, farmer, race track director of Mosport Speedway and entrepreneur.
He had a good business sense and always enjoyed the next adventure. The family wishes to thank all the Emergency Services for their quick, kind and compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private arrangements.

Our beloved father spent his final years at Centennial Place in Millbrook with loving nurses and PSWs who we thank for their amazing care.
