May 3rd, 1927 - November 14th, 2021
Waldemar (Walter) Pfeiffer was born May 3rd, 1927, in Leingarten, Germany.
He passed peacefully on November 14th, 2021, at his home in Brooklin, surrounded by his family.
Beloved Husband to Marlise, devoted Father to Michael, Peter, and Walter, extraordinary Opa to Kelly, Adam, and Chloe, and Great Opa to Michael, and William.
Walter built an incredible life for his family, unrivaled in determination and perseverance.
His life’s work made the world a much more beautiful place.
His skill at horticulture began as a young boy when he began the trade at just 14 years old while living in Germany.
After settling in Canada, he began his business Brooklin Nurseries. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and earned the sunrise every day of his life.
He made a home with his loving wife Marlise and together they raised three incredible men.
The bounty of his garden and beauty of his flowers enriched the lives of everyone he knew. He always took immeasurable pride in growing things. One could venture to say plants would blossom simply as he walked by.
If he could comfort us in these hard times, he would almost certainly say don’t cry by my grave I am not there. Instead, he would wish that we remember him by his tireless days’ work in the garden.
Eat a fresh strawberry or ten and marvel at their beauty.
Remember his mischievous grin by enjoying a sip of Jägermeister with the people we love.
Take the time to listen to the story of a little one. He would wish that we never forget to find hope, and joy in life.
Private Family Arrangements have been entrusted to BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME.
Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep
By Mary Elizabeth Frye
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
