It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Allison Marie Rabess announce her passing on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
She was 51 years old. Allison, a wonderful wife, a marvellous mother, a dedicated daughter, a cherished sister and a fabulous friend, passed away after a brave and long battle with pancreatic cancer.
She is survived by her husband Damian, and their two sons Benjamin and Christopher.
She also leaves behind her devoted parents Jean and Lionel, who she had a very close relationship with as they guided her through life with passion and love.
Her loyal sisters Lisa and Marsha, grew up together, and shared special and private moments that only sisters can share, they will miss her immensely. Amazing auntie, she will be fondly remembered by all her nieces and nephews.
She was surrounded by her close family as she comfortably slipped away in the peaceful environment of Ed's House hospice in Cobourg.
Allison was born on March 10th, 1971 in Toronto where she was raised by her proud parents. She went to school at G.L. Roberts CVI in Oshawa and later attended Centennial College in Scarborough where she formed special bonds and relationships with people who have become long-term friends.
A very caring and thoughtful person, she always knew how to really listen to people and make them feel important and special. She was the person who checked in on everybody to make sure they were okay.
She also had a special connection with her mother.
As a woman of faith and a devout Catholic, Allison was a proud member of Holy Family Church for many years. She was loved by all her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She will be dearly missed by many extended family members and good friends here in Canada and overseas.
Allison loved music from a very young age, singing and dancing whenever possible. Travelling brought her great joy and it took her to the Caribbean, Europe and even Asia.
She really enjoyed experiencing the different cultures and especially liked sampling new foods and drinks. She employed continuous learning throughout her life and she was excited to learn new things and absorb progressive ideas. She studied stenography, reflexology and many other topics that interested her.
Her family were everything to her and as such, she always put them first, taking time to make special memories with Damian, Benjamin and Christopher, of whom she was incredibly proud.
The family wish to thank Allison’s medical team who provided her care and treatment as she navigated this challenging journey: the doctors and nurses, the staff of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto General Hospital and Lakeridge Cancer Centre Oshawa, and finally the staff of Ed’s House Hospice who helped to make Allison as comfortable and as peaceful as possible in her final hours.
Visitations will be held at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Road North, Whitby on Friday January 6th,2023, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm for those wishing to pay their respects. Allison’s funeral service will be held at Holy Family Church, 91 Ribblesdale Drive in Whitby at 11.30 am on Saturday January 7th, 2023, and her internment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 355 Taunton Road East, Whitby. All are welcome to attend.
The family have asked for any donations to be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada and to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto in Allison’s name.
