Edward “Ed” Ellig
It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Edward “Ed” Ellig in his 84th year on February 28, 2022 at Southlake Residential Care Village from a lengthy illness of Parkinson’s, cancer and neuropathy.
Ed was the beloved husband and soulmate of Catherine (nee Menar) for nearly 56 years.
He is predeceased by his 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He will be dearly missed by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and his friend and helper Moe.
Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

Elizabeth Anne Friesen
March 30th, 1933 - March 1st, 2022
Affectionately known as “Bette” – passed away at Lakeridge Hospital in Ajax March 1, 2022.
She passed peacefully in her 89th year with Debbie and Andrea at her side.
Bette was the cherished Mommy to Mark (Donna), Debbie (Tim) and David (Rick).
She adored her grandchildren Melissa (Brent), Stephanie (Rob), Brian, Jordan (Meghan), Andrea (Matthew), and Evan (Katrina).
She was blessed to be a Great Grandma to Sophia, Nathan, Lila and Grace.
We are at peace knowing that we all go to say our goodbyes in person.
Her hand was held for many hours and her sweet face was kissed. She will be missed so much.
We were very happy that her brother Ron was able to say “not goodbye, but see you later” over the phone.
We would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Bitonti for your gentle and caring bedside manner. Very sincere thanks for the hardworking and special nurses and other excellent staff people on 4 East. You were amazing.
Thank you for keeping our family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of both of our parents within a period of four months.
We rejoice in the knowledge that they are together again, and with our Heavenly Father.
There will be no visitation or funeral service.

May 24th, 1946 - February 24th, 2022
Passed away peacefully on Thursday February 24, 2022 at the age of 75 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Survived by his wife Rosalina De Dios Payumo.
Loving father of his sons Rafael De Dios Payumo and his wife Faby Bet-Payumo, Renato De Dios Payumo and his wife Jessica Payumo and Reinel De Dios Payumo and his wife Genevieve Payumo.

Ernesto will be remembered as a soft-spoken man who always greeted you with a welcoming and infectious smile, and comedic humor with a love for music and song and actively participated in his choir.
Even throughout his battle with cancer, he smiled always and laughed often.
His unconditional love for his wife, children and grandchildren was felt and known by all.

Passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2022 at the age of 75.
Her family is deeply saddened by this sudden loss.
Betty was a long time Whitby resident and dedicated local hairdresser.
She is survived by her husband Gerd Philipp, daughters Karen Penrose (Al) and Jamie Rule (Colin), grandchildren Gunner, Colt, Ruby, and Bridget, sisters Mary Milligan (Robert) and Eileen Dixon (Eddie).

Evelyn Ann (Marks) Stirling
It is with profound sadness and fond memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Evelyn Ann Stirling on February 6, 2022 at the age of 89, with her daughter by her side, at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry.
Loving mother to David (Ann) and Karen (Mike Angelo).
Proud grandmother to Brittney (Miguel), Ryan (Lauren) and Karlee (Daniel).
Great-grandmother to Arya and Emilia.
She will be sorely missed by her many friends. Evelyn is predeceased by her husband Sammy, brother Jimmy and parents James and Mary Marks.
Evelyn enjoyed careers in insurance, retail and office administration and retired from the Scarborough Board of Education. She loved to bring the treats for family gatherings.
Her cherry balls and shortbread cookies were beyond delicious.
She made the best shepherd's pie ever, her scones were legendary as was her gravy.
She lived her life with grace, kindness, laughter and love. She left this life with dignity, on her terms, surrounded by love.
Cremation has taken place, and a Graveside Service will be held to celebrate her life at Pine Hills Cemetery in the Spring.
