March 12, 1931 - June 24, 2023
Passed away at home on June 24, 2023 at the age of 92.
Born in England in 1931 Joan was the eldest of 3 siblings which included an identical twin sister.
Joan became a registered nurse in England.
She started out delivering babies back in the time when midwives delivered the babies on their own and only called doctors if there were complications.
er goal was to work in the operating theater and that's exactly what she ultimately did.
She met the love of her life Geoff Milburn in the early 1950's. Their first date was going to watch Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1953.
Geoff and Joan married in 1956 and 4 days later journeyed by boat to immigrate to Canada.
While Geoff joined Consumers' Gas (a company he would work at until his retirement as VP of Public Affairs), Joan worked as a nurse until she became pregnant with her first child, a son Roger.
A daughter Heather would follow two years later. Much later, Joan and Geoff would delight in becoming grandparents with the arrival of granddaughter Dallas and grandson Peyton.
Joan and Geoff had a wonderful life together enjoying many hobbies and interests such as ballroom dancing, sailing and the theater. In 2016 Joan was made a lifetime member of the Oshawa Little Theatre for her many years of volunteering and support.
They both loved animals owning many horses, dogs, cats and birds.
Joan was known for her smile and style; always dressed to look her best with her trademark perfect nails. She had a great laugh and the gift of the gab.
She was an enthusiastic fan of the Dallas Cowboys and of Formula One racing.
In her younger years she charmed her way out of a speeding ticket or two (or three)....
Joan will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
There will be no visitation or service.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME .
Should you choose to make a donation in Joan's memory there are a few organizations that come to mind:
- the Oshawa Little Theatre or
- Team Chelsea Lost Pet Search Group (on Facebook) or
- Support a local animal rescue/shelter in your area.
In Loving Memory 1940 - 2023 James "Jim" Everest Davidson, beloved husband, devoted father and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023, in his home in Uxbridge, Ontario, at the age of 83.
His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
Born in Toronto in 1940, Jim was the son of Russell and Violet Davidson.
He grew up in a loving household, surrounded by the support and encouragement of his parents and sibling, George. Jim found his greatest joy in the company of his beloved wife, Susan Phee, with whom he shared nearly 60 remarkable years of marriage.
Together, they built a foundation of love, respect and unwavering commitment.
Jim and Susan's love story was an inspiration to all who witnessed their deep connection and enduring devotion.
During his 40-year career, Jim worked at Russell Davidson Body and Fender Shop at 650 Kingston Road in Toronto. Jim loved spending time at his cottage on Wadsworth Lake, fishing, and having friends attend the annual August long-weekend get away. He valued the serenity and quiet that the cottage provided.
He was a man of integrity, known for his generosity, compassion and willingness to lend a helping hand. He touched the lives of many through his acts of kindness, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.
Jim will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Susan; his children, Rae Dawn (Robert) and Russell (Suzanne); his grandchildren, Kassandra, Katerina, Emily, Alexandrea, Julianne and James; and the many relatives and friends whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Jim's memory.
Forever remembered, forever cherished, and forever loved.
Rest in peace, Jim.
