Passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday January 24th, 2023 after a short stay in hospital.

Predeceased by his loving wife Lorna.

Loving father of Bruce (Sheila), Mark (Janet), Joy (Steve Sisnett), and Melanie (Paul Calandra).

Dear grandfather of Rachel, Shayna, Kai, Elliott, Leah, Danielle, Natalie, Olivia, and Spencer. Brother of Marilyn (Toronto).

Everett was born in Paspebiac on the Gaspe Peninsula on June 6th 1930.

He was one of three students in Canada to win a prestigious scholarship covering all costs from McGill. This allowed him to attend and he earned a degree from McGill. He then attended the Presbyterian College from which he graduated in 1954. He ministered in Montreal until 1968 when he moved to West Rouge, Ontario.

There he looked after two congregations until they became self-supporting in 1974. Everett stayed with Grace Presbyterian Church and while there earned his Doctorate of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary.

He retired from full time ministry in 1997 but even after retirement Everett remained active in the ministry.

Everett enjoyed puzzles, board games, and socializing with family and friends.

He remained a strong man of faith until the end.

The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, from 4 to 7 Saturday and Sunday. The Funeral will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church 447 Port Union Road on Monday January 30th, 2023 at 10:30 am. A reception will follow the service at Grace.

It is with great sadness that the family of Rita Pharand-Wanamaker announce her passing on January 19, 2023, in Ottawa at Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital, at the age of 74.

She is predeceased by her husband Willim (Bill) Wanamaker, parents Elie and Suzanna Pharand, and brothers Gerry and Jack. Survived by her siblings Tina (Serge), Louise (Bob), Sue (Peter), Michel (Sylvie), Bob, Ron, and John (Jill). Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Rita will be remembered for her love of family, friends and neighbours, and her sense of humour. Rita loved a good party and was an avid gardener. She was also a devoted lover of all her dogs and cats. Her awesome sense of humour and laughter will truly be missed.

Regina (Slawecka) Mielewczyk

Regina Mielewczyk passed away at Glen Hill Terrace in Whitby in her 91st year.

Regina was born in the village of Sosnoweczka, in what is now Ukraine.

Predeceased by her father (Antonin), mother (Petronela), sister Zosia and brother Hieronim. Beloved mother of Frank Mielewczyk and Anita Mielewczyk.

Babcia will forever be missed by her four grandchildren, Alexandra, Stephen, Nicole and Julia, all of whom she was exceptionally proud of.

Regina came to Canada in 1949 on her own as a 17 year old refugee from a displaced persons camp in Germany.

After marrying in 1952, she eventually settled in Oshawa, where she raised her two children with her husband.

She became a member of St. Hedwig’s Parish and was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary there, volunteering for frequent fund raising events, including Fiesta Week.

There wasn’t a plant that Regina could not grow or bring back to life and everyone happily enjoyed her delicious cabbage rolls, kapusta and pierogi. Regina’s kindness and compassion were exceptional and will leave a lasting legacy for all who knew her.

We would like to thank the staff on 2 south, at Glen Hill Terrace, for their care over these last few weeks.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. with Prayers at 6 p.m. at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King St. E., Oshawa).

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church, 411 Olive Avenue, Oshawa.

Reception to follow at Armstrong Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m.

Rose (nee Kovacs), beloved wife of 67 year to the late Bela Hajdu.

Proud mother of Barbara (the late Mike), Steve (Marilyn), and Bill(Leslie).

Loving grandmother of Mark (Kim), Chris (Amy), Angela (Jay), Mathew, and Geoffrey.

Great grandmother of Abby, Elsa, Clara, and Iver. Rozalia and Bela were refugees from the Hungarian revolution in 1956.

They became proud Canadian citizen in 1962.

They were owners of a Tailoring business in Oshawa from 1963 until their retirement. Special thanks to the staff on the 3rd floor of Port Perry Place for treating mom like a family member.

A private family celebration will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Prince Albert Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. If desired memorial donations may be made to the CHARITY of your choice.

Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her extended family, friends, and those that knew her.

A woman who devoted her life to taking care of others. From her own children and grandchildren to nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and all. Ruth loved her babies. She spent countless hours volunteering for Harmony Road Baptist Church and affiliated organizations. She loved and cared for Brian with all her heart.

On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, Rob DiCrescenzo, loving husband and father of 2 passed away at the age of 49.

Rob earned a Bachelor of Education and spent over 20 years as a dedicated educator who was known for his ability to build meaningful relationships with his colleagues and students.

He had an uncanny ability to connect with kids who really needed someone in their corner. From his computer savvy and incredible problem-solving skills to his flair for making school a place of fun and joy (Remember the Chicken Olympics or the attempt to break the Guiness Book of World Records for snow angels?), he was an integral part of many school communities.

He is survived by his devoted wife Jennifer of 20 years and his loving daughters Mia and Madden. He is also survived by his caring parents Elizabeth and Joseph DiCrescenzo, his sister Michele Jones (Morgan) and brother Jim DiCrescenzo (Hilary), nieces, nephews and extended family. He will also be deeply missed by his lifelong best friend Jeff Hoskins who was very much a part of the family.

Our family is missing him for his quick wit; it always livened up any conversation and left everyone in the room with a big smile.

A hard working, extremely patient, strong, loving father, friend, and husband who has touched many peoples lives in profound ways will be dearly missed. Robert, or more commonly known as Bob is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings and friends.

He left this earth knowing that he did his best consistently and persistently to make this world a better place for those around him.
