With sadness, we announce the death of Robert William Serjeantson on January 26, 2023 at the age of 88.
Pre-deceased by his much loved wife, Joan Eunice Serjeantson and granddaughter, Katherine.
Robert was the loving father of Katherine (Jim), William (Kim) and Karen, and cherished grandfather of William (Kim), Leslie (Eddy), Lindsay (Alex), Emily, John, Katherine and Meaghan, and great-grandfather of Lincoln.
He was known as Len in his youth, and later as Bob to friends and family.
Bob took pride in his business endeavors and his cottage. He built his family cottage on Three Mile Lake, Muskoka where he was well known by local residents and cottagers alike. All knew Bob as someone who had a tool for every job and was always willing to lend a hand. Bob considered the family cottage to be his legacy to his children and grandchildren.
He valued a strong work ethic which he passed that on to his children and grandchildren. Outwardly he tried to convey a “tough guy” image and was given the nickname “The Ox” in his youth for his physical strength.
In reality, Bob loved animals of all kinds and would spend hours playing with the local kids on Jeffcoat Drive. He had a great passion for natural spaces and would take extreme measures to avoid cutting down living trees.
As Bob regressed, as a result of dementia, he talked frequently and fondly about his siblings and parents and never lost his love of popular and military music. He could sing along to all the popular wartime songs.
In Robert’s memory, please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later in the spring.
