(January 25, 1955 - June 9, 2020) It is with great sadness that the family of William John Smith announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, June 9th at Lakeridge Health Ajax/Pickering Hospital. He was in his 65th year. He will forever be missed by his wife Laurie, daughters Kelly Trewin (Chris), Jennifer Smith (Steven), and Ashley Piccoli (Mario). His grandchildren Caleb, Grace, Liam Sadie and Sawyer. Greatly missed by his mother Audrey Johnson (nee Smith) and brother Bob. He was very well known and most people called him “Billy”.He was always a jokester but made you smile and laugh.He retired from the TTC on January 20, 2017 where he was very well liked by fellow workers and friends. Wayne passed away peacefully on May 27, 2020, shortly before his 73rd birthday, after a brief illness. Wayne leaves behind his brother Gary and his daughters Chandra (Andrew Mudie) and Valery (Mike Welsh), and son Aaron. Wayne will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, nieces, nephew, as well as cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his father Alfred Maidlow, mother Margaret Leggat, and stepfather Vernon Barrett. Wayne retired from Chrysler Canada’s Ajax Trim plant where he had spent his entire working career, and was able to enjoy many summers at the family cottage on Balsam Lake, and more recently at his trailer near Orangeville. (June 5,1930 - May 15, 2020)In his 90th year, Walter went Home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday May 15, 2020 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Ontario.Beloved husband of the late Rose (Buma) for 61 years. Loving father of Betty & Cor Adema, Harry & Triena Piersma, Stan & Jane Piersma, Alice Daling, Evelyn & Dick Zandstra and Roy & Henri Piersma.Grandfather (Pake) of 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.In 1949 Walter arrived in Canada from Holland at age 19 years. It was here that he met Rose and they were married in 1952. Dad was a farmer at heart but he also loved carpentry and camping. They loved to travel and they spent a lot of winters in Florida with family. Dad loved playing cards even recently beat us at 5 Crowns.Both Dad and Mom came from large families and most have predeceased him.Dad loved and served God his whole life, church life was very important to him.Due to current social limitations, a Family service will be held on Monday, May 18th at 1 pm at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home.Memorial Donations may be made to Knox Christian School.
William Alexander Frisk "Alec" of Uxbridge Ontario, born June 30th, 1940 in Toronto Ontario, passed peacefully on May 11th 2020 at the age of 79.Alec was the beloved son of Alexina Frisk nee Spence (born on the Isle of Orkney, Scotland) and Jacob Frisk (born in Stockholm Sweden), and dear brother of Jack Frisk of Gravenhurst ON.He is survived by his daughters Tina Catherwood (Gerry), Carrie Frisk and Beth Frisk. For our Dad, a handshake wasn’t just a gesture but a promise, and he made sure we knew the value of it. Dad was a huge nature lover, and for this reason, he insisted on raising his daughters on a 50 acre property in Sandford ON, surrounded by various animals, a sort of idyllic hobby farm.He was a dedicated father who immersed himself in our worlds to ensure we had a wonderful childhood.He lived to make us happy. Dad was a loving grandfather who’s face lit up every time he set eyes on his grandsons Jake and Lucas Catherwood, Greyson and Hudson Pelletier and his beautiful granddaughter Evayne Pelletier.Dad will be dearly missed by his family and his friends, especially his long time buddy Ken Nicolle, as well as many caregivers at ReachView Village.We will love you forever.
