Cherished Grandpa of Megan, Dalton, Evan, Darian, Jared, Mackenzie, Mitchell, Karter, Owen and Hayley. Dear brother of Coral McCutcheon, Elva Johnson and Glenna Stewart. Joe will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends.

- 91 years “I had a good life”! Jacqulin Betty Guthrie (nee Rose) passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Port Perry Hospital with family at her side. Jackie was born and raised in Markham to parents Harvey and Birdie Rose (Gould).

Predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Wm Bill Guthrie (2016), and oldest son Donald (2022). Jackie is survived by her daughter-in-law Leslie Guthrie, Delhi; Wilma (Ted) Smith, Sunderland; Neil, Ajax; Dwight (Linda), Cobourg; Jennifer (Paul) Jones, Bowmanville.

Her 8 grandchildren, Kelly (Dave) Cowan; Kristie (AJ) Martin; Graham (Holly) Smith; Lee- Ann Smith; Adrienne (Darren)Fang; Hannah Jones; Melissa (Jesse) Rice; Stephanie Guthrie. And 8 great-grandchildren, Cole, Lane, Brynn, Briar, Madison, Ariannna, Kason and Adalynn.

Also survived by her sister Marjorie Mitchell (late Gord). Predeceased by Duard (Dorothy) Rose, Gerry (Dorothy) Rose and June (Frank) Underwood.

Auntie Jack also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Jackie grew up in Markham, her first job being delivering the Star. After high school she attended Normal School in Toronto.

A year later she married Bill on July 11, 1953, and moved to the farm in Whitby. Jackie was a very busy lady raising five children, being an active member in UCW and Eastern Star (67 yrs), leading CGIT, Sunday School and Youth Group, along with her farm wife duties. Her kindness, strength and sense of humour will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Road N, Whitby - Vistitation Monday, June 24th from 6-8 pm, and 12:00 on Tuesday, June 25th, Service at 1:00 and reception to follow.

The family would like to thank the care she received from West Shore Village; and Dr DeHaas and Dr Xue and the nurses at the Port Perry Hospital, for their kindness and care. In Jackie’s memory please make donations to the Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke, Diabetes, Port Perry Hospital or the Mount Zion United Church.

Cherished grandmother of Neil (Christine) McLean, Craig McLean (Rachel McInnis), Gavin (Jaime) McLean, Matthew McLean, Kyle Reaburn (Sonya Stadus-Soo), and Chloe Reaburn (Alec Holla) and great-grandmother of Cael, Brock, Claire, Gray, Mason, Wells and Rozlyn.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Neil (2005), siblings Ruby Kirkwood, Pearl Graper, Stan Letteau, Elmer Lettau, Bill Lettau and Allan Lettau, and her parents Charles and Lena (Nuhn) Lettau.

Visitation will be held at on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Spring interment in Chesley Cemetery.

Loving mother of John vanEck (Ellnor) of Chesley, Jane Robertson (Mike Sutherland) of Angus, Gilbert vanEck (Sharon) of Markdale, Renee Dadswell (Rodger) of Barrie, Steven vanEck (Carol) of Kemble, Marianne Noack (Mike) of Pembroke, and William vanEck (Linda) of Kemble. Cherished grandmother of 27 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Dear mother in law of Donna vanEck. Jean will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Predeceased by her daughter Maria vanEck (Jim Stevenson), by her son Albert vanEck, by her parents Aaldert and Jantje vanMourik, and by her siblings Maria dePutter (vanMourik) and Cornelis vanMourik.

Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11 a.m., with a memorial service to celebrate Jean’s life to follow at 12 noon. For those that are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.

John was born February 15, 1924 in Windsor. Loving father to Mike (Cecilia) and John. Loving grandfather to Michael and Katlynne and great grandfather to Owen. Survived by his brother George and sisters Marilyn and Beverly. Predeceased by his wife Marygrace, daughters-in-law Marsha (nee Mohr) and Merri-Anne (nee Jordan), parents Elizabeth (nee Towers) and Frank Garvey, brothers Frank ‘Diz’, Donald, Raymond, Leonard and Albert and sisters Evelyn, Irene and Margaret.

John served in the Merchant Marines during WW2, was a stone mason by trade – although not an artsy guy he worked magic with stone. He loved sports – many would remember him umpiring baseball, refereeing hockey or broomball – he often said he was not in it for the money but the love of the game especially when kids were involved. Many nights were spent with his good friend Frank Christie and brother Diz Garvey refereeing at some cold arena somewhere in Grey or Bruce county. He was an avid golfer and golfed until September of last year.

Many thanks to the staff at Kelso Villa and Vicki Oldrieve for helping Dad with his day-to-day care over the many years. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and PSW’s at the Owen Sound Hospital who made his last days as comfortable as possible.

Family and friends are invited to share memories at the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth on Monday, February 26th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held in May. Spring interment Zion Cemetery. Expressions of remembrance to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.

Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Cruickshank (nee Kelly). Loving father of David Cruickshank of Owen Sound, Stewart Cruickshank of Owen Sound and Lelanda Muzzell (Mike) of Owen Sound. Cherished grandpa of Kadin (Kate), Emily, Alexander and MacKenzie. Step grandpa of Kylan and Matthew. Great grandpa of Harper. Dear brother of Marg Bell (Ronald). Brother-in-law of Eileen Cruickshank. Jack will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Stewart and Irene Cruickshank, siblings Gord Cruickshank (Elizabeth), Alvin Cruickshank (Aileen), Bill Cruickshank (Lily), Bob Cruickshank, Stewart Cruickshank (Alma), Betty Houston (Eric) and Doris Rosford (Cecil).

Jack was a dedicated fan of the Owen Sound Attack and was an avid golfer in his day. Jack and Bette really enjoyed their time travelling around with the square-dancing club.

Peacefully at Brightshores Health System – Owen Sound on Friday, April 12, 2024. Born in Port Credit, Ontario on April 15, 1933, James William Peer of Owen Sound, was in his 91st year.

Jim will be dearly missed by Ola Young as, well as, his many friends and fellow volunteers.

Predeceased by his parents William John and Jessie Margaret Peer (nee Smith).

Jim was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound since 1998 and Silver C’s Club. He enjoyed board games, especially crokinole and Scrabble. He dedicated his life in Owen Sound to volunteering in the community, being involved with more than 20 organizations between 1987 and 2001.

A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at The Salvation Army Owen Sound Community Church, 365 14th Street West, Owen Sound ON N4K 3X9 (519) 376-5699, on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 11:30 a.m.

Terry Davidson passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024 in his 81st year.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Davidson (nee Cowper).

Terry will be missed by his son Kevin and partner Carla, and his daughter Teryl. He was the proud grandfather of Calli, Caitlin, and Cassandra, and great grandfather of Ziya. He will be remembered fondly by his sister Myrna Fulford and her husband Merv, and his sister-in-law Jean Davidson.

Terry’s love for his family and his passion for horses were his life. His son Kevin followed in his footsteps. In 1989 Terry achieved the Trainer Award and Kevin achieved the Driver Award at Hanover Raceway. Terry worked for more than 20 years at Amerock in Meaford as Supervisor of the paint shop.

A private family gathering will take place.

Proud grandpa of Logan, Reese, David, Emma (Cavin), Kyle, and Hayden. Loving brother of Don Breadner (Eloise), Margaret Gilray, Marie Hubbard (Herb), and brother-in law of Doris Breadner, Gordon Boyd (Sharon), and Lorraine Boyd. Maurice was predeceased by his parents Lorne and Harriet Breadner (nee Irwin), brother Gordon Breadner, and brothers-in-law Barry Gilray and Harold Boyd. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. A visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Monday, May 20, from 9:30 – 11:00am, followed immediately by the funeral service at 11:00am. Pastor Michael Henkel presiding. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Meaford. If desired, donations to Chapman House, Walters Falls Community Church or Brightshores Health Systems-Meaford, would be appreciated by the family.
