APRIL 30, 1932 – JANUARY 23, 2024
It is with heavy hearts we share the news of the passing of (Clarence) Allan Tamblyn; beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on Tuesday January 23, 2024 in his 92nd year.
Allan was the much loved husband of Judith (nee Ketchen) for almost 70 years, beloved father of John (Karen), Stephen (Patricia), Alison (Steve Newstead), Lesley, (Steve Ford), and the late Barbara; loved father-in-law of Gordon Wallace.
Allan leaves behind grandchildren Matt Tamblyn (Hillary), Krista Tamblyn (Anthony), Jordan Tamblyn (Alexandra), Tristen Tamblyn, Mike Wallace (Tara), Brett Wallace (Ciara), Nick Ford (Jacy), Ryan Ford (Claire) and Lucas Glaspell (Taylor). He was the proud Great Grandpa of Griffin, Jaxson, Joey, Reign, and Adelaide.
Allan is deeply missed by his brothers Mac (Wilma) and Norm (Maureen) and predeceased by his sister Marian and her husband Ed Mewett.
He is lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law John Ketchen (Laura) and sister-in-law Bev Jennings (Keith predeceased). Uncle Allan leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss his kindness and gentle nature.
He is fondly remembered by Linda Tamblyn and Debbie Tremblay.
Allan was an honorary member of the King family, a “big brother” to Carl, David and Allan.
Allan left the family farm in Cambray to work at GM in Oshawa. He and Judy raised their family in Courtice but spent many happy times at their cottage on Sturgeon Lake, later building their retirement home on Betty’s Bay near Cameron.
Allan was a humble man who downplayed his many talents and skills. There was nothing he couldn’t do and most often he could be found using those skills to help others. He modeled the value of hard work, and the ability to set that work aside to be present with family, friends and neighbours.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hillsdale Estates who provided tremendous care to Allan in the last few months of his life as he lived with the effects of Parkinson’s Disease.
He was a very tall man with huge hands that he used to help others and to hold the hands of his family so they knew they were loved. A gentle giant of a man who leaves a giant hole in the lives of those who loved him.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements with COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL .
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to Parkinson Canada, MS Canada, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
