Peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2023 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 79.

Beloved mother of Eugene and his wife Colleen and Natalka and her husband Andrew.

Cherished Baba of Alexander and Daniel. Dear sister of Andy.

Predeceased by her loving husband Philip (1978), her parents Basil & Paraskevia Sidlar, and her siblings Anna, Michel, and Kathy.

Anastasia will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Anastasia loved to cook and was happiest when all of her family were able to come together and enjoy her cooking.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King St. E., Oshawa) with Panachyda at 7 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. George the Great Martyr Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment to follow at St. Wolodymyr & St. Olha Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Friends of Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at Lakeridge Health Ajax/Pickering Hospital at the age of 89.

Beloved husband of Margaret (Sheila) (nee Sheridan) for 65 wonderful years.

Tony and Sheila grew up in St. Helens, Lancashire, England, but in 1969 set out with their two young boys in tow, moving to Sweden and then to Canada in 1972.

They settled first in Toronto and then put down roots in Burlington, where they made many great friends and had wonderful “early Christmas” parties every year.

Tony worked for many years at Gould Shawmut (now Ferraz Shawmut) in Toronto before semi-retiring and having a successful second career working to harmonize international electrical standards through the International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC) and similar groups.

In this role he worked with the Standards Council of Canada and was President of the Canadian National Committee of the IEC.

Survived by his loving wife Sheila and sons Martin (Leslie Junkin) and Colin (Sharon), granddaughters Samantha and Christina (Tricia), nieces Andrea O’Leary and Joanne (Simon) Barton and grandnieces and grandnephews James O’Leary, Callum O’Leary, Lucy Barton and Edward Barton.

Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Elsie (nee Taylor), his brother Michael (Constance “Connie” (nee Jennion)) and his grandnephew Christopher O’Leary. Tony will be missed every day.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements with McEachnie Funeral Home.

Art is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Ruby (née Black).

To Ruby he was the love of her life, her soul mate, and she will always love him and keep him in her heart forever.

He is the cherished father of Sharon Hunter, Marlene (Douglas Timms), and Colleen Fearon (Paul Wilson).

Proud grandfather of Jackie Robbins (Richard), Kelly Bubar, Daniel (Dawn), Kevin (Ellen), Sara (Mathew), Robert (Shannon), Steven (Marci), and David (Tasha).

Adored great-grandfather of Daniel, Julie, Shelby, Bradley, Emily, Abigael, Reilly, Arwen, Clark, Hunter, Owen, Austin, Olivia, Tyler, Jaxon, Maverick, Emerson, Kayley, and Maddie, and great-great grandfather of Elijha.

Art is survived by his sister Carol Ashby, and predeceased by his brothers Earl Matthews, Rick Maracle, and John Maracle.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Sandy Black, Ken & Betty Roberts, and Ruth Maracle.

He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Arthur retired from General Motors where he held many different positions in the plant including an innovative cleaner attendant. He was a former Deacon at the Seventh Day Adventist Church (College Park) and after moving to Bowmanville with Ruby, they were welcomed into the Bowmanville Seventh Day Adventist Church where they have been members since.

In keeping with Art’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for the near future. Arrangements with Mount Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery.

Allan Ross Scott peacefully passed away at age 94 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

He was known as ‘Ross’ to many and ‘Scottie’ to a select few.

Ross was born in Toronto, Ontario and met his wife Joan on a blind date 69 years ago.

Their love flourished and they were married on June 26, 1954.

After graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ross accepted a job with General Motors.

He worked for over 31 years in the Engineering and Government Relations department, which allowed him to travel throughout North America and Iraq.

Ross had a passion for flying, cycling, singing, wood carving and enjoying time at the family cottage on Chandos Lake. Ross’s happy place truly was at the cottage where he loved to sail, snorkel and swim.

In his retirement, he spent over 20 years driving for the Canadian Cancer Society and spent many winters in Florida.

Ross will be remembered as a loving husband to Joan and an adoring father, grandpa and great-grandpa to his three children Anne May (Ron), Ian Scott and Susan Hermansen (Peter), his seven grandchildren Beth (Josh), Wendy, Julia (Nathan), Christopher (Kirstin), Emily, Rachel, Caroline and four great-grandchildren Aubrey, Hallie, Paige and Brinda.

Ross and Joan are very appreciative of the excellent care he received from the doctors and nurses at Lakeridge Health Oshawa as well as his family physician, Dr. Nigel Jagan.

Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. West, Oshawa on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 12:00PM—2:00PM, followed by a private family service at Thornton Cemetery.

Al was predeceased by his brothers John, Tim and Nick and sisters Betty and Marion. Survived by his sister in law Marion Hockney (the late Bob) and predeceased by Jack Anderson, Tom Anderson, Gerry Myles, June Leddy, Stan Anderson and Frank Anderson.

He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours, especially those from the Village of Taunton, where Al & Pat were long time residents. Al loved sports, as a young man he played lacrosse in Brooklin, he also played hockey and baseball.

He was an avid golfer and took great pride in winning the GM Worker’s Tournament several times.

Al also enjoyed teaching roller skating at the old Whitby arena, spending time fishing and was a Philatelist as well as a member of several stamp clubs.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Al’s Life will be held at a later date.
