Don passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord, early in the morning on Monday, November 27th, 2023, at the age of 92.

We are rejoicing that he is home with his Saviour and cherish the beautiful memories that we have of Don during his time with us.

Don was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ella Allison and his siblings Norman (Norma), Margaret, Thelma (Ross), and Janet (John).

Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Marlene (née Rose) of 72 years, his children, Don (Catherine), David (Christine), Christopher (Heather), Paul (Kim), and Jennifer (Jeff), as well as his eight grandchildren, Laura, Jessica (Alex), Suzanne, Paul (Samantha), Christopher (Monika), Rebekah (Wes), Ryan, and Graham.

Don is also survived by his brother Bob (Kathryn) and his sister Ethel (Don).

Dad will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved, valued, and placed tremendous importance on his family. His children have been the benefactors of the wonderful, loving home that dad and mom fostered.

His enduring love for his wife was a testament to his solid character. Dad put his family and faith in his Lord ahead of everything, even during his busy working life. He established traditions that have been passed along to his children and grandchildren.

He loved God and prominently wore a cross with the engraving that proclaimed “Everything is possible with God”.

Don was well-respected and appreciated by everyone with whom he crossed paths.

Guests will have the opportunity to freely share any memories at a Celebration of Life that will be held in the new year, with a date to be announced.

Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Safe Haven Community Church (82 Church St. S. Ajax, Ontario, L1S 6B3) or The Arms of Jesus Children’s Ministries (P.O. Box 10, Pickering, Ontario, L1V 2R2).

Newcastle, Ontario – With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a remarkable soul who lived life on her own terms.

With her daughter and granddaughter by her side, Dianna Trejbal passed away quietly on November 21st , 2023 - just shy of her 74th birthday,

Born in Bowmanville, Dianna grew up on the family farm, a place that shaped her love for animals, nature, food, music, family and honed her Ukrainian roots.

Regardless of where she lived, Dianna’s kitchen was always the centre of her home. She was renowned for her culinary abilities, whose Ukrainian cooking skills rivaled even those of her seasoned senior relatives.

Despite her struggles with mental health and addiction, a massive stroke in 2014 followed by breast cancer, Dianna remained fiercely resilient, never letting her challenges dim her spirit.

Dianna is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Ellen, and by her sister, Trudy and brother, Joe. She is survived by her sisters, Janet and Gloria, her two daughters, Monica and Michelle, and her granddaughter, Emily. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, in particular her Jenny, and her surviving extended family. She will also be affectionally remembered by the many friends she made over the years, especially her lifelong and best friend Ellen (Ken).

The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Fosterbrooke Long- Term Care Home and by Dr. Aubry Kassirer. Their dedication, kindness and patience during Dianna’s time there brought comfort to her and her loved ones. We appreciate their unwavering support and for creating a nurturing environment especially during challenging times. Their contributions have not gone unnoticed and are deeply appreciated.

In honor of Dianna, a celebration of her life will be held at the Newtonville Community Hall on December 10th, 2023, from 12pm to 3pm. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and remember the laughter, love, and indomitable spirit that defined Dianna’s journey. A Ukrainian lunch will be served at 1pm to honour her love for food and family.

May Dianna’s free spirit continue to soar, finally finding peace among the stars. Her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will forever echo in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her.

Dr Geoffrey Michael Luck

Dr Geoffrey Michael Luck

Listed in

August 1946 - November 2023

With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Dr Geoffrey Michael Luck on November 20th, 2023.

Born in Guyana, South America, Geoffrey studied medicine at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica and Trinidad.

His sense of adventure, and the love of a girl he would eventually marry, led him to Canada for a 'short' visit in 1972.

A chance stop at St Michael's Hospital in Toronto led to an internship, and the rest, as they say, is history. He would eventually settle in Oshawa and open a private practice as a family physician.

He retired from the Oshawa Clinic in 2016.

A passionate traveler, Geoff also loved spending time at the cottage but cherished time with family and friends most.
Son of the late Samuel and Olivia Luck (nee Choo-she-nam), Geoff is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Alana (nee Headecker), his only son Michael (Adriane) and his adoring grandchildren Evan and Christian.

He was the eldest of 5 children Tom (d.2010) (Mary), Samuel Patrick (Anne-Marie), Roger (Denise), and Kathy Malcolm (Richard).

A beloved uncle and friend to many, Geoff, or Papas, will be fondly remembered for his kind soul, his big heart, generous nature and his infectious smile.

He was a wise and brave man who could do anything he put his mind to. A great storyteller (unless he broke down in laughter), he could always cheer you up when you were down.

A visitation will be held on Thursday November 23rd, 2023 at DESTEFANO FUNERAL HOME 1289 Keith Ross Drive in Oshawa from 5-8pm with a tribute at 7pm. A private service will follow on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and/or Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
Geoffrey's legacy of hard work and generosity will live on through those who knew him.
