It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Virginia Self on September 9, 2023, surrounded by family at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
Susan is survived by her husband and best friend, Kennedy; her daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and Matt, Lisa and Matt; her brother and sister-in-law, David and Jackie; her nieces and nephew-in-law, Catherine and Shaun, and Sarah; her cat, Panther; and many friends and found family.
She is predeceased by her parents Abram (Ab) and Virginia (Ginny) Martens.
Susan was a lover of family, holidays, animals, travel, and her community. In her youth she enjoyed playing the piano, gymnastics, and horseback riding.
Throughout her career she was the first female manager at IBM, served on Uxbridge town council (Regional Councillor Susan Para) for 17 years (1989-2006), and ran her own business, the Vintner's Nook.
In her retirement she enjoyed travelling, knitting, baking, scrapbooking, and volunteering through The Rotary Club. She served as President of the Rotary Club of Uxbridge 2008-2009.
Loving, fiercely independent, and iron-willed, she will be greatly missed.
An intimate Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

It is with great sadness that we announce that Sheila passed away in the company of her beloved family.
She was 71.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ron, and by her brother Ian (Edna).
She will be fondly remembered by her daughters Christine (David) and Heather (Sam) and her granddaughter, Daren Dorothy Sheila Barbieri, and by her many nieces and nephews. Sheila enjoyed a full life.
She attended Immaculata High School in Ottawa and pursued a career at Prudential Insurance and at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Commerce.
After moving to Toronto, she was an executive assistant at Thorne Riddell, Bank of Nova Scotia and Costain Homes and thereafter worked at the Social Assistance Review Board and the Children’s Aid Society. She left her career to devote her time to her daughters.
She travelled extensively through Canada, the United States and Europe and enjoyed her vacation home in Paradise Valley, Scottsdale. Summers included treasured Canada Day weekends in Westport at the summer home of her cousin Helen (John). Everyone who came to know Sheila found her to be a wonderful person.
Sheila was beautiful inside and out and always stylish. When cancer came calling, she fought it with exceptional fortitude, grace and dignity through unending challenges.
She was vibrant, kind, quick to laugh, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a dog lover and a consummate hostess. We will miss her dearly.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 903 Giffard Street, Whitby at 10:30am followed by a reception at the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Sheila to the North York Hospital Foundation, Lakeridge Health Foundation, Sunnybrook Foundation or UHN.
The family is grateful for the wonderful embrace and support of doctors (especially Dr. Paula Fishman) and staff of the four hospitals, the nurses (especially Danielle and Alicia) and PSWs of VHA and St. Elizabeth’s Home Care (especially Ely) who played integral roles in helping Sheila on her journey which began during the covid years – a greater gift could not have been give.
November 25, 1954 - September 4, 2023
Sharon passed away peacefully in her home on Monday September 4th, 2023.
She is survived by her five children Chrissy (Roddy), Timmy (Denise), Tammy, KerryAnn, John (Leanne). Her 16 grandchildren Natasha, Courtney, Liam, Dakota(deceased) Cole, Owen, Montanis, Bineshiinh, Mika, Waawaatesi, Tehya, Kii’waydin, Shawin, Mnosge Giizis, Waseyasikew, Bawazigawywin and by her great granddaughter Everly.
Predeceased by her loving parents Warren and Shirley Barfett. Survived by her brother Wayne Barfett, her niece Tara and her nephew Warren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Beloved wife of predeceased Cecil Thomas for 56 years.
Dear mother of Julie Lafond (Real Lafond), Mark Sheriff (Jayne Sheriff) and the late Linda Valk (Bob Valk).
Cherished grandmother of 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
We appreciate the staff at Hillsdale Terraces especially those in Vineyard View who had interaction with our mother on a daily basis who made her time there so memorable from the banter to the birdfeeders.
Your thoughtfulness will not be forgotten from our family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Shirley Ralston on Monday August 21st, 2023, at the age of 57.
Predeceased by her beloved parents Jean Macintosh and George Macintosh, as well as her sister Suzanne.
Loving wife of Tony Ralston. Cherished Mother of Sarah Ralston and Patrick Ralston.
Will be greatly missed by all long-distance family members and friends. Shirley was a shining light in a dark room.

She loved to dance, sing, and fill our hearts with her magic. Her love and spirit will be felt unending.

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our Mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Shirley Steward (Card) at Uxbridge Hospital on August 10, 2023, peacefully in her sleep at the age of 93.
Mom was born in then what was called Scott Township on June 3,1930, to parent Leslie and Irene Card, joining with siblings Allan Card and Wilma Doucette (both predeceased).
She is survived by her children, Elaine, Bonnie (deceased), Darlene, Sandra, Brian, Denise, Tanya, Derek (deceased) and Darryl.
We remember also, her partner in life, Larry, whom she spent a number of good, loving years together. Missing her also, will be her little dog companion whom she loved dearly, Yogi.
She always liked to keep herself busy, usually knitting beautiful blankets and coverlets for her family. Her lovely embroidered work was lovingly made until her fingers got sore and she could no longer hold the small needles.
She was a wonderful mother who supported and loved her family her whole life through the many highs and lows of our lives, always there for each one of us. A long and beautiful life you had – you will be missed by all those that LOVED you.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Sheila MacPherson (nee Cantlon) at the age of 87 on August 2, 2023.
She was surrounded by her loving children over her final days and passed peacefully.
Born in Arthur, Ontario, Sheila was the beloved wife of her late husband Bob for 62 years, loving mother to late Robin (Richard), late Rick (Connie), Tami (Cliff), Tom (Denise), Jamie (Amy) and Jason (Amanda).
She was the proud grandmother of Mike, Billy, Taylor, Tyler, Evan, Hana, Abby and Ethan.
She was the loving great grandmother of Tyson, Sophie and Adelaide. She was predeceased by her brothers Terry, Barry and Brian.
Mom had a generosity that cannot be measured. Her children knew she would sacrifice anything and everything for them. She was loved by so many and impacted so many lives through her 87 years. She devoted time to her church, enjoyed holidays with family and gatherings with friends during her time in Nova Scotia and Ontario.
Mom was a gracious woman with the warmest of hearts. A friend to so many and an inspiration to those who knew her, she had a huge commitment to her faith which lead her in life. She will be greatly missed. We find comfort in knowing that she is with our dad, Robin and Rick having a glorious reunion in heaven.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 7pm to 9pm at Morris Funeral Chapel, 4 Division St, Bowmanville, ON. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 11am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 3800 Courtice Rd N, Courtice, ON.
