It is with great sorrow that we announce that Sonja passed away in the arms of her loved ones on July 7th, 2023 at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry.

She is mourned and remembered with love by husband Greg, daughters Renée and Anneke, siblings (Annette, Elisabeth (Brendan), and John), siblings in law (Kelly and Marcia (Derek)), loving mother Martine, and parents-in-law Joy and Edmond.

She is predeceased by brother Sandy (1979), father Alexander (2018), and nephew Nicholas (2018).

She is also remembered by her many nephews and nieces (Alex, Erin, Matthew, Lily Kay, Matt, Morgan, Taylor, and Reed), cousins, and extended family and friends which she held close to her heart. She fought fiercely and courageously against cancer for two and a half years, and we are forever grateful to have had this time with her in our lives.

So many fond memories of Sonja are held in our hearts, from her sharp mind to her care for all who crossed her path. She was the epitome of an excellent and beautiful mother, wife, daughter, and sister.

She had a strong, unwavering faith and shared it with those in her life frequently.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bowmanville (127 Liberty St S, Bowmanville, ON) on Friday, July 14th at 11:00 AM, burial at Bowmanville Cemetery to follow, friends and family are invited to a reception in the church hall after the cemetery.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Society of St Vincent de Paul.

Salwa passed away peacefully at home with the love of her family surrounding her on June 30, 2023 at the age of 86.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael Issa Habaybeh.

Beloved mother to Maha, Issa, (Karen), Susan (Robert) and Peter. Beloved sister to Nadia, Evette, Zaki, Abdullah, Khalil and Edward along with their wives.

Cherished Teta (Grandmother) to Justin, (Kathleen), Andrew, Shelby, (Hayden) Brandon, Sarah, Katie and Mitchell. Most loving great grand mother to Georgia-Lynn, Benjamin, Lennon and Valen.

She was loved by her numerous nieces and nephews as well as all the friends she touched in her life.

Family and friends will be received for visitation at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd, Whitby 905-655-3662 on Wednesday July 5- from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service honouring Salwa’s life with be held in the Barnes Chapel on Thursday July 6 at 11:00 am followed by an interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery Whitby.

A reception will take place at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME following the cemetery service .

Suddenly and unexpectantly passed away in his sleep in Ajax/Pickering Hospital.

Steve joins Ruby, his beloved wife of 62 years who left us in 2017.

Loving father to Deborah Zylstra (Paul), Stephen E. (Cynthia) and Darrin (Pauline). Special Papa to Sean (Iris), Dylan, Logan and Taylor. Loving brother to Ruby, Katie and Rhoda.

Predeceased by brothers Will, Herbert, Walt, Bob and sister Florence. Steve will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Sharon in her 76th year, was the beloved wife of Leighton Moore for 56 years.

Loving mother of Leslie, Michael (Heather) and Stephanie (Rob).

Cherished Gramma of Brock, Carson, Katelyn, Kurtis, Peyton and Liam.

Sharon was the second oldest of four daughters and two sons born to Norman and Marian Smallwood; she is survived by her sisters Bev and Lynne, her brothers Glenn and Jeff; and is predeceased by her sister Dianne.

Sharon worked alongside Leighton on the family farm in Sandford, being involved until her final days.

She enjoyed baking, collecting antiques and time spent with her family.

A Reception and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 starting at 12:00 p.m. at the Sandford Community Hall, 433 Sandford Road, Uxbridge. A Graveside Service will follow the reception at the Sandford Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.

Sharon passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday May 21, 2023 at the age of 77 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.

Devoted wife of the late Harvey Burke for more than sixty years.

Loving mother to Dan Burke, Kim Kirby and her husband Al, Heather Lyman and her husband Harry and Nancy Burke and her husband Chris Leherbauer.

Cherished Gramma to Leslie, Sarah, Kyle, Elysia, Will, Connor, Christine, Caroline, Andrew and Charles as well as four great-grandchildren.

Sharon will be sadly missed by her lone surviving sister, Lynne Lee.

Predeceased by her parents Florence and Harold Godfrey as well as sisters’ Shirley Cox and Fern McGillis.

Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her extended family which includes many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Doris Dugas and Ella Legere and brother-in-law Bob Burke.

Sharon’s many friends at Forestree Place senior residence in Bowmanville will have fond memories of her as well.

Sharon was enthusiastically involved in horseshoe’s and other activities at the Bowmanville Older Adults Association.

The family would like to Thank the many Paramed PSW workers who provided wonderful care to Sharon on a daily basis, with a special Thanks to Shawna.

A visitation for Sharon will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 12:00 noon to 1:30 at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa. A memorial service will be held from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. with interment at Union Cemetery to follow immediately after.
