August 26, 1930 - September 17, 2017It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother Nina, on Sunday, September 17th, 2017, in her 88th year.She will be forever missed by daughters Marina (Roger Hunt) and Nadine (Bruce Murray).Cherished grandmother to Zack, Greg, Hillary, Julia and Adam.Predeceased by her husband Alfred and sister Rica Thorne, she will be missed by her brother Joe Gurowka (Lois), Kim, Jim, and dear friend Mary Ann Fox.Born in The Pas Manitoba and a graduate of University of Manitoba, teaching opportunities brought her to Ontario.Nina spent much of her life in Oshawa raising her family and being an active volunteer in the community. In her later years, she discovered a joy in quilting and formed deep and endearing friendships with her quilting friends. Nina had a full life filled with love and laughter and will be forever missed.Her family would like to thank Dr. Clarissa Burke and Dr. Andrew Burke and the staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph for their caring and attention in the remaining months of her life.Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. W., Oshawa (905-721-1234) on Thursday, September 21st from 12:30 p.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:30 p.m.Interment at Union Cemetery and reception after.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph.

Unexpectedly and peacefully at home on September 4, 2017 in his 90th year.Loving husband of the late Ruth Andrews (nee Merrill).Dear father of Fred (Melinda) and Marie (Glen). Very proud grandfather of Janelle (Kayla), Scott, Daniel (Kyle), Garett (Darren) and Stephanie. Predeceased by his siblings, Beatrice, Berniece and Fred.Dad was very proud of his farming life and passed much knowledge on to all of us. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering on Wednesday July 26th, 2017 at the age of 93 years.Predeceased by her husband Al, Nina is the loving mother of Audrey (Bob), Tobi (Bayne) and Bill (Nadine).Predeceased by her son Bob and survived by his wife Wendy.She will be sadly missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.Predeceased by siblings Vera, Florence, Gladys, Rosie, Bill and Albert.Greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.Nina was a “wise old owl” with a passion for poetry.She often recited many passages and literary works from memory with grace and eloquence.
